Sampa's Pizza Cafe - Marina Del Rey — Restaurant in Santa Monica

I have been buying pizza from Sampas for a few years already. Being Brazilian myself, I'm happy to have them close to our home and order from them often. I love their pizzas and also some of desserts, like the Brigadeiro cake. Today, I ordered 2 pizzas to take out and wanted to add some slices of the Brigadeiro cake to my order, and there were already a few cut and in plastic containers. I could easily tell those slices were old and dried by looking. When I mentioned that to the girl helping me she looked at them herself, made a face and agreed by saying "I know, that is bad ". So I asked her for some slices from the fresh cake that was right there in plain view, instead. I could not believe my ears when she actually told me no, and that I could not have new ones and she insisted I buy the the old, stale ones first!!! Seriously???

Now, if I am paying $7.00 for a piece of cake I should be able to choose a fresh one. This person should learn more about what she should and should never say if she is in a customer facing position in a restaurant! After I got home I called over there. She answered the phone and I asked to speak to the manager. She refused to put the manager on and then said she wasn't there. I asked when she'd be back and she answered "I dont know, she was here earlier" which isn't really an answer... I then asked for the manager's name and after 5 seconds of silence she asked "Why?" I repeated the question and she reluctantly gave me her name after another long pause. She clearly realized it was me calling by that time and reacted very poorly. Just BAD BUSINESS any way...

Came in bout 25 minutes before closing to get me a quick bite before getting back on the road.

I ordered a Greek Salad and an Acai Bowl.

The Salad was good!

The Acai Bowl was missing the oats and honey on top.

The servers you could tell where just wanting to close up shop.

I would not call it a welcoming entrance as I did not get a hello or even acknowledgement when entering.

It took me asking for them to take my order for acknowledgement I was hungry and this was the only place that was in budget and healthy on my way out of this part of LA area.

Overall it was a clean and organized establishment however the service was a bit lacking as well as missing toppings in the Acai bowl.

I will also let this be known that they order there cakes and put them back in the original boxes, so if you are looking for fresh cakes and pastries this is NOT the place to go as nothing here is made it was all being put into Cake boxes that had...

45 minute wait (3:45 - 4:30pm) for a Super Bowl ordered placed 2 days in advance. Then order was missing items.

I, along with several others, waited in Sampas on Super Bowl Sunday while the 1 girl at the counter took telephone order after order without even acknowledging us. She would talk for 4-5 minutes at a time without placing callers on hold or even making eye contact while we waited to pick up orders.

After asking for a manager, we were told there wasn't one there...on the busiest pizza ordering day of the year.

No one working seemed remotely interested in remedying the problem or helping customers. While I waited the 45 minutes, I watched several customers complain about incorrect orders, long wait times, and not being helped.

I live here in Marina Del Rey and I can say, their pizza is not worth the price and their wings are mushy and slimy. Go to Pizzarito or Fresh Brothers for better quality and...
