Hello Sarasota, today I wanted something fresh for lunch with my coworkers. The restaurant was a 5-minute walk from my hotel. Though, there was plenty of street parking. When I arrived, it was very nice to see a menu on the wall outside. I loved how much the employees cared about their guests. This restaurant has a team approach. This is a dog friendly restaurant. Without even asking they brought water out for my dogs. We dined outside under the covered tent for shade and rain.
Our server Timothy was amazing and proactive to my needs. I will ask for his service upon arrival next time. He was very polite and set proper expectations. I enjoyed the beers in a chilled glass. My table decided to order from the lunch menu. We were able to pick one appetizer or dessert. The app. for today was the Gazpacho or Thai chili Tuna. The dessert available today was citrus olive oil cake or vanilla bean crème brulee. One entrée shrimp po’boy with double fried French fries, blackened shrimp salad, coriander crusted salmon. Also, they offer house wine as well.
Our food was the best meal I have had in a moment. To the chefs thank you. The presentation of each dish was phenomenal. My taste buds will never forget yall, keep up the GREAT work.
Update 2nd visit-
My first lunch visit went so well that I invited my bosses to dine for dinner. Mr. Anatoliy F. was proactive, intuitive, and patient. Also, I always appreciate it when the chef visits my table. The confidence after creating such a passion was refreshing. Thank you again Mr. Marts.
We decided to try a different appetizer than lunch. Really, the Coconut Curry Mussels and Shaved Steak spring Rolls were the bomb. I need to slap someone this taste so GREAT. Our entrée was even better Seafood Bouillabaisse Rice Pilaf, 2 Duval’s Seafood Sampler add Crab Cake, and the Ocean Sampi. I have eaten a lot of lobster around this area and boy did I want to tell the server “I should have just eaten at Duval’s”. The seafood here is slightly crisp on the outside but juicy on the inside. The dishes are perfectly cooked. To end the night with a beautiful display of Decaf Cappuccino and...
Read moreSo my Inlaws, myself and my wife had gone here last night When we got seated, we were welcomed by an amazingly positive heartfelt waitress I think by the name of Laura She had welcomed us, and basically told us to ask her whatever we might need, creating the visit as positive as possible.
The problem, was, that glancing over the menu, we had all agreed in stating/that the menu looked very safe and controlled by the kitchen
Now I had gone up to the hostess stand, and spoken with Brad. He had actually informed me that there was a menu for outdoor seating VERSUS indoor dining area seating-therefore creating 2 different menus that we were UNAWARE about!!
Sadly, profoundly wise, once I found this information out, we ordered our entrees and dinners that we enjoyed, however communication is key!!!!
What's funny, is the table next to ours, was a group that I had spoken up and informed them of the different possibilities that 3 out of the 7 had decided to order from the outdoor menu versus tje indoor menu
So was the food remarkable, yes/to a degree, the calamari was undercooked, however the rest of the meals were extravagant!! Was the service remarkable, ABSOLUTELY YES!! IT WAS A 10!!! Laura was every bit of professional, attentive and considerate as she could've been and we can't thank her enough! But was the entire experice remarkable, NO, BETWEEN the chef needing to slow down the cooking time, to ensure the crispyness of the calamari, to the entire visit and experience was exquisite! Thank you for your time, consideration, professionalism and kindness reading...
Read moreWhat a wonderful lunch we had today at Duval’s! I cannot understand why this restaurant is not a 5.0 out of 5.0. The food was incredibly fresh and the service was impeccable! Dori, our server, was the first face we saw when we entered Duval’s and her warm and welcoming smile gave us such a great impression of the restaurant. That first impression lasted the entire time we were there! I had the 2-course lunch. I chose the salmon spread as a starter and the shrimp po boy as the entree. My husband and I shared the salmon spread which was served with parmesan crostini. It was so delicious and although it only came with 3 crostini, Dori said to just ask if we needed more. The shrimp po boy was served on a toasted fresh French baguette and the shrimp tasted so fresh it could have just come off the boat this morning. I see why Duval’s has received well-deserved awards for their Po Boy sandwich. The remoulade sauce was perfect! My husband had the fresh grilled halibut served on potatoes and fresh spinach, which he absolutely loved! I sampled it and wish I could get fish that fresh everyday. There is a reason that Duval’s is referred to as the best place for local fresh fish. We are in Longboat Key for a month but live in the Orlando area. If we had Duval’s in the area where we live, we would be there at least once a week. Please do not pass up a visit to Duval’s or you will definitely regret it. If you go on a Tuesday or Wednesday, ask for Dori. Her beautiful smile and her excellent service will only enhance your experience at this...
