Shakespeare's Craft Beer and Gastro Pub — Restaurant in Sarasota

We were 1st time patrons of Shakespeare's and had heard great things about the food and beer selections. Our visit started a little rough as the waitstaff seemed to be a little understaffed for the amount of patrons and carry out orders that they had to deal with. The restaurant was very busy which usually means the food is good. In this case that is correct, the food was very good when it finally arrived an hour later. The reason for my 3 star review was not the wait or the lack of staff it was for another issue. My burger was orderd medium and arrived very undercooked. A condition discovered only after having taken a healthy bite out of the burger. I understand this happens occasionally so I simply flagged the waitress down and let her know it was not cooked correctly. What happened next is something I have never encountered before. The waitress was more than happy to correct the issue by taking my burger (with a big bite out of it) along with the fries back to the kitchen to be placed back on the grill. Mind you it was topped with bacon, cheese, and jalapenos which had to be scraped off. The same burger missing bite and all was returned to me with new toppings. I am not sure I am comfortable with the practice of regrilling a partially eaten burger right next to someone else's order. I am not a germaphobe but I cannot believe that is acceptable practice in any restaurant. And...after an hour wait for food I am not sure why the fries could not have been left at the table. Update Today February 2025, same dish wasn’t as “fluffy” as last time and greasier. Also charged me full price for onion rings (last time, was less because I really didn’t want the french fries) so, perhaps inconsistent is my overall experience?

Dec 3024 I don’t eat fried food in general. And tonight I had fish and chips, ( I had onion rings instead. )This was worth the calories lol. Light and fluffy at the same time tasting some what decadent. I like my coleslaw slightly sweeter, but I understand why it got compliments. I immediately put half of my food in a container to take home and was quite satisfied with what was left on my plate. Good choice! My friend had the Thai burger -don’t ask me how anybody can put ketchup on top of all of THAT, she didn’t even realize there was Swiss cheese on there until I just told her! She enjoyed it -left nothing on the plate

I like this dark woody old English type of atmosphere. We were the only people in the restaurant and closed them up at 9:30 . I can’t speak about noise or service as there was no competition lol. I’ll be back another day to try something else from this...

Bomb.com! This was our second visit and both visits have been equally awesome. Jackie was our server the first time and she gave impeccable customer service. We were here on a Monday afternoon and she was the only server with several tables and a lot of people at the bar. She not only greeted us upon walking in but took her time to go over the menu and recommend her favorites to us. We ordered the sauage pasty appetizer, the carmalized onion and brie burger and fish and chips. Everything was hot and fresh and it was A LOT of food. We didn't wait long for food or for the check. Super friendly!

Today is a Wednesday and we did get here right at opening. We were greeted by Jackie as well as Megan who was our server today. Once again great service along with great recommendations. My husband and I split the Beer Cheese and a Peanut Tai Burger. Perfect amount of food for two. The beer cheese was the best I've ever had.
