It was fine. Not nearly a bad experience, but room for improvement. I still give it 5 stars.. there wasn't anything particular bad... so I didn't want to punish them for frivolous reasons. Let me explain:
I ordered the fish tacos. My wife had the shrimp tacos. Each plate only came with two tacos. Most places I've been to give at least three tacos. We shared one of each. There was mango salsa on both kinds of tacos... I liked it better with the shrimp. My wife liked it better on the fish... go figure. We both agreed they would have been better with slaw. Haha. But again... those are our preferences, so we couldn't hold it against the restaurant because that would have been unfair to them.
The fish tacos had large pieces of fish in them, so, that was a plus.
Their sides were very small. A tiny basket of fries, onion rings, and fried okra. Very small side portions. Their fried pickles were great, apparently. I don't like pickles, but my family swallowed them up quickly... leaving me to eat the crunchy batter pieces at the bottom, which were delicious.
Our server was decent. It took a bit of time to get our food, but we expected that. My cup ran dry and it took a bit for it to be refilled, and here is why I gave 4 stars for service.
It was about an hour til closing, but we asked if it was too close to closing, and the hostess assured us it was fine. When our server brought my refill of sweet tea, she said, "This is it for the tea tonight."
I know it was closer to closing, but that left me wondering if I were to finish this cup if I'd be cut off... or would she let me get it refilled with Coke or something. I felt like I had to ration my sipping.
I have severe anxiety, diagnosed by a licensed therapist... so asking for clarification isn't something I can easily do. Even if my order is incorrect, I usually just eat it and keep quiet. I'm sure she would have brought me a Coke if I were to need another refill, but her word choice and cadence didn't convince me.
The tea thing and the slightly longer wait time for our food were the only issues we had. The food was decent enough. We ended up paying about $80 after our 20% tip for x2 adult meals and x2 kids meals. It's a little pricier than we usually spend... but it's a vacation in a tourist area. I kinda wish the food tasted more than just "decent enough" for that price... but it is what it is.
As a one-time experience, we're glad we went... the atmosphere was neat, clean, and...
Read moreIf I can give this place a -0 I would. We went down on a Sunday just wanting to have a nice drink walk along the river. We had cash asked for change. The bartender gave us change and then came back and said she didn’t take the drinks out of it. Well, I didn’t ask her to. I asked for change, but I said OK. Take the drinks out of it Because we did still need to pay. I didn’t count the money. It was still sitting on the counter. My mom came back to the bar, counted it and said how much were those drinks we got two margaritas they were five dollar margaritas we got peach flavored which was a dollar more a piece and then my mom got hers on the rocks and I had mine frozen. It was a dollar more to have it on the rocks which I thought was strange but whatever so that would be a seven dollar margarita and a six dollar margarita we gave her $100. We got 71 back. We asked how much the drinks were and she explained it and we said you didn’t give us the right change. She said oh OK so I owe you five dollars back both of us had a cocktail so we weren’t thinking and just said OK when we got home and did the math. The math wasn’t mathing. $13 worth of cocktails $100 bill we should’ve received $87 back. We got 71 when we approached her about it. She gave us back five dollars giving us 76. Still an $11 difference in our bill. When we said something to her, she immediately responded with oh I owe you five dollars back Which tells me she was ready for someone to say something because she knew that she had made the wrong change and I think this is something that the bartender does often to get money extra off tourist. Here’s the thing I’m not a tourist I live here and I brought my mom down there just to be on the Riverside and have fun And she screwed us over. I would not go to this place 100% bathrooms are disgusting and stink. Can’t even imagine what the kitchen looks like. Tried to call and speak with a manager. It goes straight to voicemail and the voicemail is full so you can’t leave a message. That should tell...
Read moreWe decided to stop in to have frozen margaritas because of the hot weather, I've been eyeing Lizzy's Burgers for a while now. I'm sure glad we stopped in because now it's one of our favorite places. We can sit and watch the games while enjoying some great food and margaritas. I have had the frozen watermelon margarita, the peach pineapple margarita, and the strawberry margarita. I must say they are absolutely delicious, not to mention that the alcohol vs. mixer is the perfect combination. These are great refreshers. The burgers are a must!!! I had the Mushroom Swiss Burger with fried okra as a side. The burger had so much flavor, and the quality of the beef made a big difference in the texture and flavor. I must say this is one of the best burgers I've had. My boyfriend tried the Smash Burger, and it was so damn good. I don't know which I liked better but I know that it just means I will have to go and eat them all. The fried okra was really good and fresh. My boyfriend had the fried onion rings, and they are cut and fried to prefecture perfection. They are a good quality onion. I must say that this place has character, a great atmosphere and delicious food and drinks. You've got to try it whether you're from here or visiting savannah. I would like to thank Charity and Candace for the perfect service to go along with the perfect everything....
