"Great location, charming room… but not worth it. Do NOT recommend
The hotel’s in a great location, and the room had a nice historic charm but the issues made it very hard to enjoy.
The worst part was the noise. We were in Room 322, right on Bay and Lincoln. All night long, trucks hit a pothole outside at full speed and shook the whole room. Even with earplugs, sleep was nearly impossible. For further context, the speed limit is suppise to be 30 mph, but all the 18 wheelers have to take that road to get to the other interstate and they are going 50-60 mph at night..
Then there was the mold and dust. Th furniture had visible mold, and the air vent blew musty air straight onto the bed like a blow dryer.
And no microwave?...why.
I usually don’t leave reviews, but this one deserved a warning. Wouldn’t stay here again."
East Bay Inn - Historic Inns of Savannah (Owner): 4/11/2025
"Our prime location does come with the caveat of being in the heart of the historic downtown district. That may include some vehicle and foot traffic noise that can be excessive for some. I can assure you, no semi-trucks travel at speeds in excess of 50 mph in the downtown district with streets as narrow as they are. While I understand your frustration, advising our general manager to fix the pot hole herself was counterproductive. While you were discussing the noise issue with her, you made no mention of mold or mildew in the room which we would have remedied immediately. I thank you for taking a chance to try our inn and sincerely hope you enjoyed Savannah as well.
Sincerely, Charles Stewart Guest Services Manager East Bay Inn"
Charles,
There were actually a few things I didn’t mention in my original review.
If you’re not in a room facing the busy street with trucks flying by all night, you’re likely next to the huge construction site behind the building constant noise during the day (please see video). On top of that, the bed was far from comfortable. I spent the night with a spring jabbing me in the hip definitely not the kind of rest you'd expect at this price point.
I didn’t stay at your inn to debate the basics of comfort. Arguing with me about truck traffic speed and the noise it creates misses the point entirely when those trucks hit the pothole, the walls literally shake (please see video).
As for the mold and dust, it was obvious. If your cleaning staff missed it, that’s on your team not the guest. I shouldn’t have to point out visible mold and musty air just to have it taken seriously.
And yes, no microwave. In a room priced over $200 a night, that’s not a charming quirk, it’s just poor planning.
Bottom line: the issues were real, and so was the review. If you want better feedback, fix the problems instead of writing condescending responses. Gaslighting your guests isn’t a good look.

Me, my family, along with our dogs enjoyed a lovely 3 nights stay at the Andaz Savannah with zero problems. When we arrived at the East Bay Inn, we were notified by the man at the front desk that our room would be ready in approximately 30 minutes. In that time, we decided to walk our dogs and decided to wait in the lobby, as it was about to rain. We encountered a few people while waiting and they stopped for a few seconds to talk to us. As they left, our dogs began to bark since they did not want them leaving and wanted to continue being petted and given attention. However, we immediately calmed them down and were even given treats by the young man at the front desk with NO PROBLEMS! A few more minutes pass (15 to be exact as our room was still not ready), and management walks by. This time, my dogs began to bark at the man for unknown reasons, my guess is because he had a hateful demeanor towards us, which will make more sense as you read the rest of this review. When approached by the unprofessional man known as management, he gave my family an ultimatum because apparently my dogs barking for less than 2 seconds was not "acceptable and [they] cannot have this." Mind you, we had NO problems with any kind of barking at the Andaz, which is a very populated hotel with rather lovely employees. 'Management' began to tell us that he had "no problem refunding us" since we "didn't know how to control our dogs." I have also written another review on TripAdvisor, which I will be updating with further comments regarding this experience, as management feels the need to lie and is now saying that they feel "that it is unfortunate we needed to ask you to remove your pets," which is a bunch of nonsense since WE decided we did not want to give any money to such a grimy, dingy establishment with rude, unprofessional staff. We did end up finding another lovely Inn just a mile away that welcomed our fur babies with open, loving arms with absolutely no problems, and we haven't had any problems during our current stay at the Printmaker's Inn. Bottom line: management's hateful, hostile demeanor towards my family is why WE DECIDED to have our money refunded and taken to another establishment that was not arrogant and full of hate. I am glad others have had wonderful experiences at this place, but I would recommend you stay far away from this place, as it is not even worth the price you pay. Take your money else where, you'll be EXTREMELY...
Read moreStayed at the East Bay Inn this past weekend for 3 nights. Absolutely BEAUTIFUL place, and staff is super friendly. But I’m here to talk about Charlie, the resident ghost.
When we first checked in, we put our things down and we’re going to head straight out in search of a late dinner. Before we left the room, I couldn’t find my mask, which I had JUST taken off. I searched the whole room, including under the bed, with my phone flashlight (bc the rug was a dark color and my mask was black). Couldn’t find it anywhere. Just when I went into my purse to dig out another one, surprise! My mask was laying in the middle of the floor that I had just scanned over with my flashlight. It just disappeared and reappeared. Other than that, our first night there was pretty quiet, except for some flickering lights.
But our 2nd night there we had settled in for the night. Playing around on our phones with the tv on in the background. The tv screen went black, which could have just been a lull in cable or something. Just for giggles I said, “Charlie, turn the tv back on.”. Of course nothing happened. About 5 seconds later I added, “Please.” And immediately the screen lit up and the program continued playing.
The hotel is very pet friendly and had a doggie welcome gift bag waiting for us when we got there. Our dog travels everywhere with us, and normally never barks while in hotels. But that second night, our dog jumped up from the bed and ran to the door barking ferociously. We never heard a sound coming from the hallway, steps or a door closing. And he wouldn’t leave the door when we called him back. The story is is that Charlie will wiggle door handles. Did our pooch hear that and not us?
Thirdly, the story also goes that Charlie will take personal items from guests. The day we were leaving, I had packed all of my belongings up. When I got home, I noticed one of my shoes was missing. I checked the car and I called the hotel. It was not to be seen. I took the one shoe I had and noticed a single penny shoved in between some decorative bands on the toe area. In the same place a penny would be placed on old fashioned “penny loafers”. This coin could not have “fallen” into this spot. It had to be pushed into place. I don’t know what era Charlie supposedly lived in, but I know penny loafers were popular around the 1930’s. Did Charlie keep one shoe and leave a gift in the other???
All in all, I adored this stay and will definitely be back! Couldn’t ask for a...
