My wife and I went last night for dinner after walking about 2 miles around Savannah and checking menus as we walked. When we saw this one at the door, we decided to stop. We were told a 35 min wait so we sat at the bar for a beer. Seems like a great bar to have a relaxed dinner and drinks, but our table was ready after about 20 min.
We sat and asked our server, Adam P., for some recommendations. He’s an excellent server and gave sound advice! We ended up settling on grouper fingers to start (crispy breaded, flavorful, and excellent tartar, I don’t usually like tartar) then my wife had the low country boil and I had the Cajun Tortellini.
I’m not generally a big low country boil fan, I mean it’s just boiled food, right? What am I, British? But let me tell you, my wife’s food came out and it was a small cookie sheet full of sausage, big shrimp, potatoes, and a whole cob of corn. Boiled in a flavorful Cajun seasoning with a nice coating sprinkled on top. It tasted REALLY GOOD! Also, plenty of food! Made sure to eat all the shrimp and brought back some of the rest for midnight snacks in the Airbnb… Now, my Cajun tortellini. I don’t even know where to start… big shrimp and big scallops in an amazing and FLAVORFUL creamy sauce with the cheese tortellini… I actually made sure to finish my beer before taking the last bite because I didn’t want to erase the flavor of that meal any sooner than absolutely necessary!!! I mean, it was fantastic! Now, we are at a point where we like day drinking, having dinner, and going back to the room, so maybe not the best choice if your not wanting to go to bed soon because it will fill you up! I scraped the bowl…
Anyway, thanks to Adam, our bartender, and the kitchen for a truly fantastic evening of dinner and drinks in a comfortable and relaxed...
Read moreThe Cotton Exchange Tavern Restaurant in Savannah, Georgia is a unique and must-try dining experience. The restaurant is located in a historic cotton warehouse, and the atmosphere is simply stunning. The exposed brick walls, high ceilings, and large windows offer a glimpse into Savannah's past.
The menu features a variety of Southern and American dishes, all of which are made with fresh, local ingredients. I highly recommend the shrimp and grits, which are made with jumbo shrimp, creamy grits, and a flavorful sauce. The fried chicken is also excellent, and it is served with a variety of delicious sides, such as mashed potatoes, collard greens, and mac and cheese.
In addition to the food, The Cotton Exchange Tavern Restaurant is also known for its extensive wine list and its full bar. The bartenders are experts at making classic cocktails, and they are always happy to help you choose the perfect drink to pair with your meal.
Overall, The Cotton Exchange Tavern Restaurant is a great place to go for a delicious and unique dining experience. The food is excellent, the atmosphere is stunning, and the service is top-notch. I highly recommend checking it out if you're visiting Savannah.
Here is a unique thing about The Cotton Exchange Tavern Restaurant:
The restaurant is located in a historic cotton warehouse, which was built in 1870. The warehouse was once used to store cotton, but it has been converted into a restaurant and bar. The restaurant's dining room is located on the second floor of the warehouse, and it offers stunning views...

Our server was excellent and attentive. She gave us recommendations on lunch and we ended up eating way too much. The portions are pretty big here, especially if you order a sandwich.
We started with the spinach dip, which was good but not great. The cheese was a hard layer on top that required the spoon to get into the chip. I also ordered a cup of chowder (the crab, I believe). It was also good but not great. It was more of a corn chowder than a seafood flavor. I probably should have stopped there, but I got the seafood scampi, which (again) was good. The seafood in it was clearly fresh and perfectly cooked. The pasta was good, but the artichokes were kind of an afterthought in the dish. Canned and mostly flavorless. The sauce was thin and less lemony than I expected for a lemon cream sauce, but it was good. I couldn't finish it. My partner got the Reuben with both fries and slaw. The fries were not seasoned (I tasted one). Salt seems to be a theme in a few of the reviews here, which I didn't see until coming to leave this one. A neighboring table recommended ordering extra 1000 island for his sandwich, and he said this was a good idea. Otherwise, the sandwich would have just been a lot of meat on dry bread. He did say it was good, though, and ate it all.
Our bill was about $90 for all. It was a lot of food and the seafood was fresh, but it just wasn't great. That's to be expected of touristy...
