Update 08-13-2025
On the Riverfront Cobblestone Street in Historical Savannah Tony Vanoy and I was strolling around! Except for the Homeless Bugging you for handouts it was extremely nice! There was a nice breeze along the river and it was 93 degrees! We came out of the bar " The Warehouse" and immediately you are greeted by the century old store front of "RIVER STREET SWEETS" & I had to go in!! Tony waited outside enjoying the fact he could drink his draft beer outside and enjoy his cigarette! I looked at every nook and cranny of this store! I had a sample of the Pink Grapefruit Sorbet in the Ice Cream Parlor in back of store....it was killer but I limited myself to one sample even though I had a hard time deciding! I ended up buying about 10 pieces of Salt Water Taffy various fruity flavors and 2 pieces of Sugar Free Homemade Chocolate! Pecan Turtle Patty and Coconut Stack! I have not eaten them yet going to wait until tomorrow...I had a smoothie earlier and some cookie samples! I'm on a diet....got to use some self-control! Definitely recommend and Definitely will venture back again...if at least for another sample of a different flavor of sorbet!
Three yrs ago: Tony and I walked the River Front Park on Historical River Street in Savannah GA. These buildings are like 5-6 stories tall & over 200 years old. The buildings all house restaurants, bars & shops. Getting down there is tricky and parking though available is tight and cost $2 per hour and you put your time slotted receipt in plain view on your dashboard There are statues, boats, people watchers, strollers, pan handlers & beggars, be aware of your...
Read moreRiver Street Savannah is the main tourist thoroughfare, in Savannah georgia. there is extremely limited paid parking next to the river, so get there early for Riverside parking. I usually park at the convention center on the opposite side of the river and take the free ferry over, not sure of perstion hours. River street, has hotels (Hyatt Regency and the new gentrified JW Marriott) the JW has two levels of rooftop dining, a playground and a bar (cool). In River Street you will find a cobblestone thoroughfare (a pain to drive on), shops, restaurants, bars. Street musicians and artists are spread about. For touring transportation you will find two pedal boats that will take you up and down the river. There are horsedrawn carriages and the like. My favorite part is watching the monstrous 6,7,8,9 story freighters passing in front and above you, stretching for blocks. The crowds on the street appear to be cheerful and happy just to be out in the world again. Folks will respectful and I will say that most, although not all, had face mask on. From Atlanta this is a 4-Hour drive from Jacksonville it's more like a two and a half hour drive. You also have the advantage of being close to Tybee island which is about a 40 minute drive from downtown. if you want to see some ocean water this is the place to go. However if you are a beach person like me from florida, this beach will disappoint you immensely! There is a national park Fort between the city and Tybee island which the kids would probably enjoy immensely but I did not take pictures of...
Read moreThis was nice my first time on this attraction I enjoyed the DJ on the third level. I didn't like the prices they charge for the pictures!! 2 big pictures and 6 wallets $45 or 1 big picture for $38 the package should contain more pictures for the money. It is cheaper to have the picture taken then go to the website to buy the pictures there you get way more pictures for a lot less money they also do cards and other stuff as well!! Keep up with the card for your picture your going to need the number unless you want to look through all the pictures looking for yours!! Also remember the date you will need that as well. Somebody need to do some about the mosquitoes coming in the dining room on the second level. I killed 8 mosquitoes while trying to enjoy my meal. I was hoping the meal would've had more selections the food was semi cold!! The only meat was very rare the seasoned vegetables were cold and had not been cooked they were raw and the rice was spicy!! I had the raw vegetables and the spicy rice I don’t like spicy!! The DJ had the boat rocking playing all the hits!! There's a bar on the third level serving up the spirits. The boat ride was nice and pleasant as the evening went on. The time went by so fast we arrived early and was able to eat before the boat sailed. Nice way to take a break from all the walking, clubs and sight-seeing. Get your tickets...
