Okay stop what you're doing and listen up folks.
I am not the brightest crayon in the crayon holder thingy, and I am not good at much on this earth, but if there is one thing that I would consider myself more decent at than I'd care to admit, it would be eating. So you can take my word when I say that as sure as Christ wore sandals, if I am considering getting breakfast from anywhere in the Region, it is coming from Sophia's.
My only gripe is I am plunged into an anxious puddle whenever I am asked to order because I realize I have explored an insignificant fraction of the oceanic-sized menu on offer. After wrestling with my own inadequacies, I generally opt for my usual (the Florentine Eggs Benedict - I swear on everything holy I would sell my firstborn son to be able to shadow the cooks and see how they prep this dish).
But oh, not feeling like savory breakfast? Wanting something a little more sweet, you glutton? Don't you worry. A single serving of any of their "comfort food" dishes will last you through a couple divorces, though I have yet to test this hypothesis. I got their banana foster waffle when I was feeling particularly adventurous and the balance between the sweet, fluffiness of the waffle with the... uhh... sweet syrupiness of the... uh, syrup (sorry I'm not good at this), makes for the perfect dish to split with someone if you're too much of a coward to finish it all yourself. Oh and the RUM and the CINNAMON and the WHIPPED CREAM. I don't know what else to say, dude. If you aren't sold on it, maybe a fulfilling life isn't for you.
Anyway, I never really review anything. But Sophia's has solid food, solid delivery, solid service, all in the middle of one of the deadliest pandemics in modern history. Absolute legends work at Sophia's. Keep up...
Read moreWould give ZERO stars if I could!! Horrible service horrible waitress don’t get the lady with the brown updo and collagen in her lips if you’re a minority she clearly wasn’t trying to serve us! Came in they sat us right down, took her 10 minutes to bring us water but she only brought 3 there were 4 of us saying she didn’t see the 4th person. Ok fine, but she was supposed to come back with it and our drinks and never did. Instead someone else brought it to us 10 minutes later. Then we sat there for another 10 minutes, watched a couple who was seated AFTER us get their food and start chowing down, meanwhile we haven’t even placed our order yet!!! Asked for the manager, she defended the waitress saying she was busy—lady we literally watched this woman walk pass us MULTIPLE times helping other people bringing them to go boxes cleaning dishes off their table things that could have waited until AFTER she took our freaking order!! Asked for a different waiter manager said yes then walked off and did NOTHING!! Kept making her rounds and talking to other people NEVER sent another waitress. We just walked out told her we weren’t paying for the drinks didn’t even drink much of them. Total waste of...
Read moreI don’t usually rate business like this but this is way too much for us. 1st time we went to Merrillville location with 4 of my children, we’re waiting for an hour because they’re busy and I understand that we have to wait but after that they took others groups (4,5,6 peoples ) but not us. I came talk to 2 ladies in front desk and got the answer that “ we don’t have table for 5 now “. We left with very sad feeling. Today we tried again with Schererville location with 9 peoples, we waited for the bigger table to fit us in. Waiting for 1/2 hour, we offered to take 2 tables because sitting together we had to wait. Got the answer “ we do not have available table “. It’s funny that customers keeps coming ( 2,3,4,5 peoples) and they get sit within few minutes and we’re still waiting. And we left with the bad feeling again. This’s so wrong, is this because we’re Asian. My kids wanted to try your restaurant and both times we got refused to get in to enjoy the foods. I hope the management team could read this and correct the team and make sure that it won’t be happen to other people specially the kids. Thanks and God...
