Chin Up Donuts — Restaurant in Scottsdale

I didn’t see it posted at the business anywhere, so I’ll save you the trouble: do not bring in any coffee drinks with you from another business! After a few passive comments about how good Chin Up’s coffee was and trying to get us to take our donuts to go, we were finally told once we sat down to eat our donuts that our outside coffees we brought in with us are not allowed. We were allowed to stay and eat our donuts, but felt very awkward and uncomfortable (there was only one other customer) so we ate as quickly as we could and left. We tried three donuts: the brown butter was rich in flavor and by far my favorite. My wife liked the sweet/savory of the everything donut but I didn’t care for it. Neither of us could taste any kind of root beer flavor in the root beer float donut, so wouldn’t recommend that one. All in all, the donuts were decent but the vibes were off. A Delightful Donut Discovery! I'm not usually a fan of brioche donuts, but this bakery in Old Town completely changed my mind. The donut was incredibly soft, perfectly balanced sweetness, and the brown butter salt icing was divine. The bakery itself is a charming spot with retro decor. When I arrived late morning, I had the place almost to myself, with rows of beautifully decorated donuts lining the counter. This place is pretty cute and in a very esthetic area. Staff is friendly but not very welcoming unless engaged first, which should be the opposite. However, with that being said, these donuts are not worth anywhere near the $4 price point. The toppings are actually pretty nicely. However, they overcook their brioche dough consistently, and I suspect somebody doesn't understand resting time. If you are vegan, you will most likely love this place because most places suck at making vegan donuts. This place doesn't.
