I had high expectations after reading all of the positive reviews and ratings but came away very disappointed. The staff obviously could not care less about their jobs or their patrons. The food looked great on the menu but was just mediocre in execution. They cheap out on the small details - like the usual corn syrup jams in plastic packaging you find at a cheap diner. They completely forgot about us and the patrons next to us and the place wasnāt even busy. Our server was too busy shooting the breeze inside with her coworkers. When we asked for our drinks they forgot those as well and didnāt refill our water or coffee until we found some other staff to ask - and then that staff also forgot to follow through and provide refills. As soon as they brought food, we never saw anyone again for the remainder of the meal and kept having to flag down random staff for the bill. Their service was just especially abysmal and we noticed it wasnāt just our server but the two other servers and host totally apathetic to their job. They all wore PJs and sports bras and looked more like People of (insert low-class chain grocery/retail store) than professional staff. I suspect that all of this will catch up to them and the poor reputation theyāre earning will as well. I donāt ever leave a $0.00 tip and even bad service still gets 10%, but today was a deserved exception. Donāt waste your money here when there are plenty of other...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLITTLE HIDDEN GEM!!! You've driven by it, around it, almost certainly parked in front of it, and now you'll want to stop in and grab brunch! Let's start with the atmosphere: small, quaint, and sweetly homey. The service: super friendly, helpful with food suggestions, attentive, and speedy. Let's move to the part that matters, THE FOOD! It was AMAZING, absolutely the best brunch I have enjoyed in Old Town Scottsdale. The Chi-Town Heat omelette was savory, creamy, filling, and so delicious! The potatoes are perfectly seasoned and prepared. Pro tip: Ask for the house-made curry ketchup...you will thank me. Next, the Hatch Chile Lime omelet, was off the charts with it's crisped cheddar cheese shell, creamy jalapeno sauce, pico de gallo, and giant warmed flour tortilla. DRINKS: The changaccino (mushroom cappuccino) is a blend of everything delicious you want in a morning beverage. I definitely wanted more than one. NOTE: The kitchen closes at 1:30PM so gather your people early...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI just had the best little breakfast at this very charming and quaint cafe in Old Town - Alo Cafe. I visited mid morning around 10am for a late breakfast.
I sat on the patio, it reminded me of when I lived in Europe (maybe because I was sitting next to a group of Irish travelers š¤£).
To start, I ordered a hot chaga latte which was amazing. It was just the perfect amount of spice and sweetnessā¦it had a unique and playful flavor.
For breakfast I ordered the Tortilla Espanola with aioli and romesco sauce. Even though everything is made fresh to order, I didnāt wait more than 10 minutes and the food was delicious!
My server was super sweet, friendly and smiled when she spoke to me. She welcomed me in (as it was my first time dining there) and explained my questions about the menu thoroughly. She was knowledgeable and offered recommendations.
All in all, a great dining experience! I would love to come again and sit on the patio for happy hourā¦I will...
