Overall, the room was decent in the sense it had two beds and the mattress was somewhat comfortable. It is close to the beach if wanted to walk, we didn’t go down there but it was decent.
We had no view (unless you count a wall from the building next door). There was no AC and the window that faced the wall didn’t get a breeze so we were using a fan they had in the room that didn’t blow a ton of air on high to cool us. It rained while we were there and was windy yet we were sweating the entire time.
Our dog that is 15 years old and has never had fleas came back with them. We have had to spend over $100 to try and remove them from the dog and our house.
I am extremely sensitive to fleas. They like me so I have bites all over my body.
We called the hotel only to be told that they haven’t received any complaints. I swear us calling is a complaint. But they said they would need to investigate and said the beach has beach fleas (which do not even look like these tiny black fleas).
In addition on their site they say they provide great service and have everything you need so you won’t even need to leave. We needed a pen to play Yahtzee and so my son went and asked the front desk for one, the woman said we only have these two you can borrow one but you need to bring it back. Who says that, most hotels have so many pens (cheap ones) but not this home away from home have everything I need hotel they had two and made sure to make my child guarantee to return it. So much for family fun. We had to pass the pen with the dice and the next morning returned it.
All in all, they didn’t give great service (pens, story) they have told us that because no one else complained about fleas they don’t exist. They have claimed to need to investigate with their maintenance person around fleas which is funny cause it is their person so the odds of them coming back saying we were right….slim. And to basically argue with us when we called to bring all this to light, on top of the pain this has caused our dog. She is itching so much she has scratched fur from her body and is bleeding in some areas.
Not a place I would recommend. They truly did not live up to what they promote and don’t deserve the stars they have. The manager should have at least apologized.
UPDATE: I got an initial response for my complaint and I emailed the account they ask you to. I did this the same day I got the email. They responded stating they could not locate my reservation. I gave them all the details and they have yet to respond this was a week ago. It is a joke. They give the response thinking it reflects well on their end but this is a...
Read moreWe rented and paid for a room with them through AirBnb. We made the reservation at the beginning of April for the volleyball competition weekend in August. I tried to message the host at 8pm to tell him that we had a late start and wouldn’t be getting in until at least 11 pm. After an over 4 hour drive we got there to find the lobby closed and a phone number for the front desk. The lady informed me that I didn’t have a reservation. I told her that we did and I had a confirmation code. She wasn’t super pleasant but told me she would be there in a minute. When she arrived she said she couldn’t find it anywhere in her system and that she couldn’t help us but that we would need to call Airbnb because they were the ones that didn’t make the reservation. (That is not how Airbnb works. It is the host that makes the reservation). She was either unwilling to help or incompetent at resolving our concern. The lady we dealt with last night was unpleasant and didn’t even put.a hold on the one room she had available as we tried to work it out. She wanted us to cancel our reservation with Airbnb and reschedule with her for double the price. I watched as someone else reserved it online while we were in the midst of talking and she rented it out to them without caring that it had been rented and paid for previously. Everything in Seaside and around were sold out (or if they weren’t it was so late they weren’t answering but I’m pretty sure that they would have been booked out too). We were forced to drive all the way to Portland (82 min away) to find the nearest hotel that had an opening for the 8th. We ended up not being able to go to bed until 3 am on the night before my husband’s competition and we will be forced to drive another hour and 22 minutes back for his competition. We were able to find a place in seaside with someone else for tonight but last night was a nightmare for us that could damage my husband’s chances of success and created unsafe driving conditions as all of us are were extremely tired last night as we drove back the way we had come and now have the return trip after very little sleep. AirBnb refunded us the money that we paid for the room but it still left us high and dry with nowhere to go in the middle of the night with our kids. I hope no one else has this same experience...
Read moreWhen I initially looked up hotels in the area, I looked on Groupon, but by the time I tried to book this place, the deal I wanted was sold out. I immediately called this place, and asked if they had any king rooms remaining for the dates I wanted. Without hesitating, David looked up the available rooms, found a king room with a view too, and decided to give me a discount even though it wasn’t through Groupon. So I was impressed right off the bat by the customer service.
Fast forward two weeks to when we arrive. Again, David is working, and was incredibly friendly, offering local restaurant recommendations. Their office is open until 10 PM for a late check in if needed. Our room was on the second floor in their Riverview building. It was clean, and quiet, with our corner room having a view of both sides of the Necanium River. The mini fridge that comes with it is actually large enough to store basic groceries, and any local wine or beer you may acquire ;-) . They offer WiFi, which with the Coastal winds isn’t the fastest, but for basic Facebook checks, or texting, works fine. They have a television which was a bit small, but who vacations to sit and watch television instead of explore the beach?
The room is spacious, with extra blankets in the room, an ice bucket, microwave, and a heater in the bathroom as well as the main room. The dresser has large, deep drawers, and they have a bag filled with local saltwater taffy when you arrive, which is a nice touch. The one complaint I have is that they should upgrade their water heater, as both the shower and the sink didn’t get as hot as I’d like. But overall, for a basic motel, it is a great option for the price.
I love the location, as it’s far enough from the Prom that it’s quiet at night, yet within walking distance to the beach, and most immediate needs. We look forward to staying with Coast River Inn on our next trip to the...
