We visited Ruby’s Grill spontaneously while driving into Seaside and were pleasantly surprised at first. There’s plenty of parking, even for larger vehicles, and the outdoor seating area felt really inviting, families were playing corn hole, and the overall vibe was relaxed. The space was clean, with good lighting and a welcoming setup.
One thing to note: the bathrooms are outside, which might be a little inconvenient for some.
Unfortunately, our interaction with the gentleman at the register left a bad impression. It was our first time here, so we took a moment to look over the menu. He didn’t say hello, didn’t make eye contact, and came off like we were inconveniencing him. I don’t expect over-the-top service, but basic courtesy goes a long way. As the only group of POC in the space, the lack of warmth was noticeable and uncomfortable. That’s really the main reason I’m giving four stars instead of five.
The rest of the staff, though, were kind and welcoming, and the food was solid overall. Our group ordered the fish and chips, sliders, blackberry BBQ ribs, and the crab clam chowder. The chowder was a miss for me (just a bit bland). The sliders were very small and didn’t come with fries, which felt overpriced for what you get.
The fish and chips were fried perfectly and served hot, which made a big difference. The ribs were definitely our favorite—super tender and flavorful, the meat just fell off the bone. If they’re available, I highly recommend trying them.
Overall, I’d come back, but next time I’ll probably...
Read moreWe were excited to try this dog-friendly restaurant, especially with their dedicated dog menu and welcoming outdoor seating. The atmosphere was great — casual, fun, and perfect for dining with our pups.
Unfortunately, the service didn’t live up to the setting. They discussed our order in detail with us, including a substitution of fries for the sides on our ribs, which they said was “no problem.” We then waited 30 minutes for our food, only to receive cold fries and discover that half of our order was missing. When we pointed it out, they claimed they hadn’t heard that part of the order — despite having just talked to us about it.
To make things worse, they charged us full price for the meal with sides and then added a charge for a side of fries, even though that was supposed to be a substitution. When we tried to reorder the missing sliders, we were told they were sold out. They wouldn't give us our receipt either.
We really wanted to love this place, especially because of how dog-friendly it is, but the poor service and lack of follow-through were really disappointing. Hoping they can work out the kinks, because the concept and atmosphere are great — they just need to back it up with better...
Read moreHad such a great visit to Ruby’s this last weekend which was perfect on a nice sunny day. We came on a Saturday around 12:30 and luckily it wasn’t too busy.
The atmosphere is great with a cool interior and tons of seating both indoor and out. We had our dog with us so opted to sit outside where she could enjoy a meal as well. The seating and setup is quaint and charming.
The family running the place are very kind and has everyone involved in helping the place run which is great to see. The menu is pretty expansive and has offerings for everyone ranging from soup, to sandwich, burger and more.
We wound up going with the fish and chips and a burger a la carte. The fish and chips were great and just what we were looking for with a crispy exterior. The homemade tartar sauce was also delicious. The burger was tasty as well although maybe not quite as much punch for the jalepeno burger as I would have expected.
All in all on a nice sunny day this place can’t be beat. It’s a beautiful area to stop in and have a meal and has ample seating for large groups or pups alike. Do note that getting to the actual restaurant can be a challenge with traffic rolling through the area but it’s...
