This place is pretty much always packed. I'd attempted to come here at 6 a month prior, and after finding out it would be an hour wait, decided to eat somewhere else. This time we decided to come at 5:10 (basically right when it opened!) and it was still an hour wait. We decided to stick it out though, and it ended up being around 45 minutes
Before getting the pizza, we decided to order bread service. This proved to be an incredibly good decision This might be the best bread I've ever had pre-meal in any restaurant in my life. It's that good. The bread comes out in four massive, semicircular-like 3d shapes of sourdough, and even just looking at it - you know you've never seen anything like it before. The edges running all the way to the summit are charred super well, and a beautiful golden brown color from the butter runs through each of the sides.
Upon taking a bite, I was blown away even further. The outside is so incredibly crunchy - possibly the crunchiest bread I've ever had. Meanwhile, the inside is somehow pillowy soft, which creates an all-time good textural combination. Somehow, there are even olives inside! I spread the herbed butter on top of the bread, and this brought it to even another level. Just amazingly good stuff. The salt levels in both the butter and the bread were absolute perfection.
Later on, we were given the hot honey pizza that we ordered - decided to share this between 2 people. This was a good pizza, but nothing special in my opinion It was very liquidy - probably a bit too much for me, having essentially no structural integrity whatsoever. The cornicione (outer crust) was very chewy, and quite difficult to get down. I also didn't really get much spice from the supposed hot honey. What I did like was the combination of red sauce, cheese, and pineapple worked well together
Lastly, we got the salted chocolate chip cookie - which was again very good. Again with fantastic levels of salt
Since we split the pizza, the total cost ended up being around 25 per person, which I thought was pretty reasonable
Overall, if I was just ranking the bread & dessert, this would be a 10/10, but the pizza being on the mostly-good side gets this...

They used to have a vegan “fungi” pizza on the menu, that was vegan as is, and my vegan friend who loves mushrooms loved that pizza. My non-vegan friend who likes mushrooms loved it too. However, they recently took it off the menu, and now there is no pizza on the menu that is vegan by default. There’s one with pesto and veggies that you can get vegan without the cheese, but both the friends I just mentioned said it’s not as good as the old mushroom one.
When I went; we had truly the best server - DC. I asked a ton of questions about the menu and he went to the kitchen to get answers for me. He gave me a full report on what could be made vegan form the menu. Here it is —
The starter bread course, without the butter. You could add a side of red sauce (for a charge). One of the salads without cheese. Basically any pizza could have cheese removed. None of the pastas (all pasta has egg in it)
I decided to just get the margherita without cheese, and asked to add spiced pineapple instead, since I saw that elsewhere on the menu. So it ended up being like, red sauce and fresh basil and this spiced pineapple. It was good! The crust is incredible, but like, it was a bit lacking. Especially for the price, and the fact that I was charged additional money for adding the pineapple.
I actually took the leftovers home and tried adding store-bought vegan cheese to the slice I reheated in the air fryer and it was DELICIOUS. It’d be awesome if Cornelly offered a vegan cheese (I’d be willing to pay an upcharge) or just a more fully rounded vegan pizza offering.
The restaurant itself is so hip and nice. Great date spot, great place for groups. Lovely outdoor seating for nice weather. Be prepared to wait! People lineup before opening at 5pm quite often on...
Read moreAfter a truly terrible, rough week, I just needed some comfort food and thought I'd try a new pizza place. Found Cornelly on Google Maps, and saw they have great reviews, so I figured I'd give them a shot. Google had a little green checkmark saying they deliver-- great. Clicked on the "Toast" link, as that was the restaurant's preferred online order method. No delivery option. Okay, no biggie, I can drive and get it. The Google listing said food should be ready in 30-35 minutes. Super. I place my order. After the order was paid for Toast tells me the order will be ready in 2 hours! What?!! I figure that can't be right, but wanted to check and make sure. If I have to cancel the order because they're that backed up, fine, I'll order elsewhere. Toast didn't have any way to inquire or cancel the order, they just say to call the restaurant directly. Called the restaurant, no answer, just went to a generic voicemail with no mention of the restaurant. Called several times, no answer. Drove to the restaurant after 30 minutes, no parking anywhere in a 4 block radius, had to park illegally. Went inside to be told the food would be ready at 8pm (ordered at 6pm). Had to cancel the order. What the hell is this? Why on earth would a pick-up order take 2 hours? For PIZZA? Are the people sitting in the restaurant waiting 2 hours? There's no way. You can run your business however you want, but if there's a 2 hour wait for online orders, you need to tell people up front or give them a way to cancel their order without DRIVING TO THE DAMN RESTAURANT. It's so infuriating I just wanted to smash things. The cherry on top of my horrible week. So completely inconsiderate and insulting to waste people's time like this. This might be the best pizza in Seattle, but...
