Domino's was always my go-to pizza place. It's been there since I was a kid, and I've always trusted it. Lately though, it seems like their ability to provide a quality product has been severely diminished, despite rising prices and delivery fees. I hadn't ordered in over a year, and decided to get myself a Halloween treat this year. Well, trick-or-treat, this wasn't a treat. It was rather unfortunately disappointing. The quality of Domino's Pizza has either gone down horrendously, or this specific store has deviated from the corporate standards. The pizza I received was surprisingly stiff, with the base feeling like a pre-frozen, thawed, and hastily baked store-bought pizza base. The chicken on the pizza was rather tough, and there was more sauce than cheese even though I requested extra cheese. The boneless wings I received would be more accurately called popcorn chicken - they were tiny and tough, like they were the last few ounces of chicken in the bag and the store wanted to just get rid of them and didn't care how they were cooked.
This was very much my last time ordering from Domino's, and frankly that breaks my heart a little because the nostalgia I once felt for this company is gone. The product I received wasn't worth the money I paid for it, over $30 after delivery fees, despite the order being only $16 after tax and before delivery cost. Domino's has priced itself out of a market where Doordash can provide a delivery for free, and other pizza chains are charging less. And again, if it was a quality product then the cost wouldn't be an issue. But paying $30+ for what amounted to a frozen pizza and popcorn chicken is absolutely absurd. For that cost, I can go to the store and pick up a bigger, better quality frozen pizza, wings, a drink, AND a dessert. Even with the offer of taking 20% off an order, its still impossible to get an order for under $30. Why?
Because Domino's has a $24 delivery MINIMUM. They will not deliver to you unless they can get $30 from you. I know because I was offered a free pizza through the app after my order. I tried to take advantage of it, and was even willing to pay for a pan pizza (which is seemingly the only product that is still being made to standard). Unfortunately, even though I had banked on this pizza and hadn't brought a lunch, I wasn't able to place my order because it didn't meet the minimum. Frankly I have never been so disappointed by a food-service operation. Let-down, certainly, but never disappointed. And yet, I am disappointed not only at this store, but Domino's as a whole. I simply don't see a way for them to make things right, because I don't know when they started going wrong. I don't know when they stopped hand-tossing their pizzas and started relying on frozen dough. I don't know when they stopped putting extra cheese on when it is requested. I don't know when they stopped checking the quality of their chicken before haphazardly throwing little chunks of baked gristle into a box and passing it off as a good product, or when they started charging $10 and $12 for delivery when they're just right down the road. All I know is, I will not be ordering from Domino's again for the foreseeable future.
I called corporate today to let them know that this was my last order, despite 28 years of ordering from Domino's. In actually rather sad, because I won't get to experience the nostalgia of opening a Domino's box, smelling that familiar smell, and being transported back to Orlando in 1999. But in this economy, who can afford to spend $30 on skimpy toppings cooked on...
Read moreI came in here Saturday night 2/22/2025 for the 1st and probably last time. I parked out front around 11ish and waited for my order to be completed online. Once the status had updated to ready I went in to pick it up. There were 2 employees behind the counter, a person with glasses and one person cutting pizza. I told the person with the glasses that I was there for an online order, I literally only ordered bread bites and sauce. I told them my name and was told my order wasn't ready yet. So I sat in the lobby on my phone and waited for it to be ready. 15 minutes went by and still no one called my name for my order to be ready despite multiple other people coming in and getting their order before me. So at this point I stood up and kind of walked back and forth a bit. Still nothing. Finally I put my phone down and stood directly in the view of the employees, again took another few minutes for the other employee who was cutting pizzas to actually finally ask me what my name was, at which point I told him and he grabbed an order that had already been sitting there for idk how long. So I sat in the store for upwards of 15 minutes not being addressed as a customer just for my order to have been ready basically the entire time. When I asked if it had been sitting there the whole time they didn't answer me and handed me my food. I walked out absolutely FURIOUS. I honestly can't remember the last time I was so mad walking out of somewhere or the last time I went out of my way to write a review. I will be contacting the store Monday and will be requesting to speak to corporate. If it's a franchise I'll be asking to talk with the owner. It's the worst customer service I have received in my entire life. I worked for 10 years in the number 1 customer service franchise in the US for papa Johns and this was just an absolutely terrible experience. Miserable jaded employees who can't even address the customers they have in the lobby. I get pizza places get busy but these employees knew I was there and saw me the whole time and instead decided to focus on making other orders instead of just call me name out. And I didn't want to walk up to the counter every 5 minutes asking if my order was ready, I don't want to have to do that and shouldn't have to. Terrible establishment I'll be requesting my money back. And if it's not refunded I'll be charging it back...
Read moreUpdate: 1/5 stars. They canceled my order at 12:28PM on 9/10/24 and said they close at midnight and they get this call a lot. They don’t update their hours on the official Dominos App or on Google Maps. Don’t waste your time or money here.
Good pizza but be sure to arrive 20 minutes past the latest estimate on the app. I got there about forty minutes after it said the order prep had started and was told it hadn’t even been prepped yet. I don’t know if they’re lying on the tracker to boost their stats or what. But again, pizza is okay. I’d recommend calling around to the nearby locations though before placing an order to avoid the waiting issue.
They also offered no compensation for the extended wait which is somewhat poor customer service. I get the business is having issues with staffing but some of that could have to do with greed and not paying employees enough to want to stay on. Three stars is where I’d say this place lands given the current circumstances. But if I had known to wait an extra 20 minutes before I went I’d say it’s about a 3.7.
3 month later update: 4 stars, because they made my order accurately and often deliver it quickly after being made. For those of you complaining about the food not being delivered to your apartment door you need to be realistic.
Try doing food delivery yourself and you’ll realize that not being there to meet the driver is you deliberately slowing their pay down and causing them to jump through extra hoops. Don’t be a hassle of a customer,...
