Locally family owned restaurant, the name coming from a mix of the names of their 2 children.  We tried every cocktail and they were all fantastic but the two with the perfect balance of flavors to alcohol the Spa Water and the Something magical. We were able to chat with the bartender who talked us through the cocktail menu.  She is great and has a good palate. In terms of the "to shares", the focaccia was great but what really made it yummy was adding the baked feta with honey.  The charred rapini was really delicious with great marinade.  The Morell tartine was definitely interesting.  I was hoping to taste more of the fiddlehead but it had a great flavor nonetheless.  The chickpea fritters were light and loved the pistou. We tried 2 boards that seemed to have most everything on them: the falafel board (the falafel was a little dry for my taste but the dips helped with that. ) The dips really were the best part.   The other board we tried was the Dipable board.  All the dips were fantastic.  Great flavor, not too much salt and each one was very different.  In terms of the main, The lion's mane tinga tacos were amazing, great flavor.  Very different from the usual tacos.  Worth trying.  I personally didn't love the pappardelle but the rest of the family thought it was good, not great.  The king salmon however, was cooked perfectly and not over salted (this can happen alot in restaurants).  The Nettle and Cowpea bowl was absolutely delicious, nutty, yummy greens  and spiced perfectly.  The service was impeccable, personable and the server had great suggestions and was patient with all our questions. All in all it was a wonderful time.  The restaurant space is cozy, fun and unusual.  The only disappointment and at this point, it wasn't much because we were so full, happy and satisfied, were the desserts.  The skillet cookie was definitely too healthy and dry tasting for us. The creme brulee did not have the right consistency, not creamy enough and the coffee jelly...well it just wasn't good.  Keep in mind as you read this we are not vegan nor vegetarian so have a bias. I find it hard to find great new restaurants that are mostly vegetarian and I think this one was awesome!!  Go in sometime and tell them you were recommended by Madrona Moms.  They just might give you a freebee.

I’ll have to come back another time to get the full experience but dinner fell a bit flat. Tried some of the board options to start and flavors were a bit muted. The leek confit stood out but it was a miniature portion. Focaccia had an almost communion wafer feel to it, again it was later in the evening so it could have just been an off loaf or the wrong hour for fresh bread. For main course I went with the black cod. The fish was cooked fine and had a good salt to it. The rice was ok, think that could have been because it was a later seating towards the end of the night. The coconut milk sauce was quite mushy and a bit bland, I was missing the lemongrass and herbaciousness that felt promised. The little eggplant bites were fine and when I got the Thai basil it was good. The chicory wedge really failed to deliver for me. I was between the chopped salad and the wedge and went for the wedge. Extremely mushy and hard to cut, overpowering blue cheese and sweetness note. Felt like an experiment gone wrong and I like chicory, raddichio, bitter leafy greens and blue cheese. The side salads that others had were phenomenal. The winner was the oyster mushroom shwarma wrap, good flavor. Cocktails were delicious, service was prompt and friendly. The space itself was beautiful and loungey. Music was appropriate. I’ll have to come back for coffee and breakfast or lunch as I want to give it another try.

I really wanted to like this place, but after 3 separate tries, I'm sad to say I'm crossing this place off for good. The vibe and atmosphere are lovely-great for meeting friends or a date night. The service is good, no issues there. However, the food was very hit or miss for me. The flavors and pairings just don't quite hit the spot consistently. I tried all three spreads one time and one was really good but the other two I tried weren't, and had a strange aftertaste. I enjoyed the sunchoke bisque as probably my favorite item I've tried.

The last time I went for a date night and we shared a Ceasar salad, which was OK. It felt like any other restaurant trying to offer a vegan friendly salad with just some greens and dressing. There were hardly any croutons and I've had better vegan Ceasar salads elsewhere.

I ordered the lion's mane mushroom tacos for my main and 3 very small street tacos came out with some onion on the side and no other fillings for a whopping $26. Avocado mash was $3 extra, which I didn't get. For that price I had much higher expectations. Unfortunately, the tacos were way too spicy for me to eat and no where on the menu had a spice level warning, so my partner ate them instead. He said they were ok-very seasoned and just extremely small portions. We traded dishes and his was also just mediocre. Nothing extremely special or noteworthy.

Both of us left hungry and felt like we wasted money for a pricey meal for not a great food experience. It was overall disappointing. I think some items are definitely better than others and you have to know which ones to pick, but it's hard to risk spending $20+ to try something just to see if it'll be good or not.

I will also add there seemed to be some inconsistency in labeling of vegan items. One item had "hot honey," but wasn't marked as non vegan. There was also a tortelli pasta dish on a dinner for two separate menu that said D for dairy, but on the main menu, this same item did not have a D, and appeared to be vegan by their labeling rules. I didn't order this dish, or I would've clarified, but could be something...

I can’t even rate the food. We paid $108 with a 20% tip and 40min later we STILL have not received our food - not even one item!!!

I’m literally writing this while STIlLL waiting - even after a gentle reminder at 39min.

They’ll get your beverages out but make sure to bring your tent as you’ll need to camp out here
.

We’ve seen no less than 9 other orders go out who arrived AFTER us.

Seriously
 HEAVY disappointment.

——-Part Deux——-

We got our food at 42min in. Soooo the corona beans & lentil soup were good. Beans especially unique dish. The SANDWICHES were disappointing and lack flavor & depth. Let me expand

Focaccia bread is supposed to be airy & light - not dense & flat. The bread and ‘billing’ didn’t have that high crust crunch & soft center. So underwhelming and no flavor - like flaky salt or other spices to drive the taste to the tongue of each bite. My advice - go across the street to SeaWolf and buy their bread for the sandwiches, or better yet learn from the masters of bread in this city.

The flavors of the sandwiches were Meh
. Sure some starts but nothing cohesive. If you put Mama ‘Lila on beef you should taste them and have sufficient amount. If you bill a roasted carrot sandwich, don’t overload it with tiny darlings such that it falls apart.

We have been going to Heavy spots for 27 yrs back to the Hollywood days. I can’t say the latest Purple here or Husky’s leaves us excited to return.

On the wait alone, much less asking for a 20% tip default to both order in line, wait forever ANS bus your own tables is RIDICULOUS.

I’m a kind guy here, so even writing this I’m leaving off plenty of minor infractions.

Get a manager on the floor and fix this
before it goes the LivBud route.
