Woooooow! (Not a good wow). I am not sure if it’s Seattle culture at this point but even if the city isn’t that friendly, this place stood out as having particularly aggressive employees. I try to give benefit of the doubt as often as possible so perhaps they were just having a bad night, especially given the otherwise decent reviews. But woah. The lady slammed the drink down on the table to one of my peers in what was perceived as passive-aggressive leaning in the aggressive direction. But more importantly, part of our group was determining if we wanted to stay and we were in the doorway as other customers were wanting to come out. That’s definitely not ideal and needed to be resolved, but the guy manning the front clasped his hands together, bent over and said in an incredibly rude tone that implied the obviousness of his request, “But could you pleeeeeeease not BLOCK the doorway.” Yeah, sure. We were sorry. We were just trying to get to get our bearings and likely a few more seconds he wouldn’t have had to say anything. But more importantly, if he really felt it was so necessary, he could have been much less aggressive/passive aggressive with his body language and tone. Maybe try, “excuse me folks, would you mind allowing our previous guests to exit?” Something polite and kind that could call attention to what we may have been oblivious to in that moment. Maybe Seattlites do not have a lot of space for mistakes or regard patience and kindness as a virtue in general, or maybe these folks hate their job. I hope the best for them. I hope they can find peace within themselves and I hope they at least learn to seem like it when representing their establishment.
TL;DR anyone who left a large rating probably didn’t have to interact with...
Read moreI was so excited to try this place. We had travelled 3 hours to visit and coming to this bar was supposed to be the highlight of our trip. The short blond haired hostess seemed not to be pleased with us right from the beginning making an irritated comment about where we were from. I felt very judged and uncomfortable. The place however, looked great and the drinks within the inside passage were fun and had the wow factor. But soon as we wanted to go to the other side to try the rum and get a rum flight. The waiter appeared to be instructed not to serve us and the shift lead came up instead and shuffled us out to another table. I asked him what was happening and if we could order a flight and and he said he was unable to serve us any rum and began getting us water. The hostess seemed to be instructing the team that we should be cut off. I was genuinely confused, trying to understand if this was really happening. I’ve never been cut off from having two drinks before. we were not obnoxiously loud, rude or presented any of your typical reasons for being cut off. It was right from the moment we entered I felt a deep sense of discrimination and attitude. It ruined the rest of the evening for me personally. I’ve never felt shamed/humiliated for something so illogical. I work in the food and beverage industry myself, so this whole experience was just such a disappointment. I will say that our waiter, Will was a great guy and I know it was not him who had made the call to cut us off from service. He even came up to talk to us briefly in the other room and it was evident he felt bad about the situation. Someone in charge here needs to address that employees negative attitude and discrimination because it’s simply...
Read moreI recently traveled to Seattle on a business trip from Atlanta with my colleagues, and we were seeking a pleasant place to unwind after work. After some research, we decided to visit this establishment but were ultimately very disappointed.
Firstly, they were unable to accommodate our entire party due to a strict policy of no groups larger than six. If you are planning to dine with a larger group, I recommend looking elsewhere.
When I ordered a Long Island Iced Tea--a basic cocktail--the bartender informed me it would cost $30 because it contained premium liquor. This is quite surprising, as in Atlanta, the same drink with premium ingredients typically costs between $10 and $15.
Additionally, when I ordered a Hurricane, it was filled with ice, as were the drinks of my colleagues. The excessive ice significantly reduced the amount of actual beverage, making it poor value for money.
The service we received was subpar. The waitress was notably rude, lacking the hospitality I am accustomed to in the South. She even slammed my drink down on the table, which I found unnecessary and unprofessional.
Based on this experience, I do not plan to return and would advise others to consider...
