This was my first time getting food from here, 9/30/24 at about 1:50pm. I ordered online from around the corner. It said it would take 15 minutes, so I went for a nice little drive around Seattle, taking in the sites. I arrived about 11 minutes later to find 5 minute parking right in front of their door, so I parked and went inside. Behind the counter was a worker putting together an order. As they turned around i told them my name and the order they were working on was mine. They put utensils in the bag and handed me my food. I said, âthat was perfect timing.â They said, enthusiastically, âI am so satisfied with this transaction and thank you.â Meaning I placed the order, they made the order and when I came in, the order was ready to go, allowing me to get the most optimal time of freshness out of my meal. It was awesome.
I got the Connecticut Lobster Roll and some Lobster Bisque. The Connecticut is the way to go, in my option, with no pickles. I JUST WANT LOBSTER LOL!! Itâs lobster, a really great tasting Texas Toast type of roll and all the buttery goodness. You know the kind with them little bitty grease pockets (without being greasy, if that makes sense) and the crunchiness of the toasted roll. it was the best I have ever had.
The lobster bisque was really great too. Creamy with great lobster flavor. I would have probably opted in for the extra crab to go in it, cause it needed more meat, but it was still tasty as hell.
I did read a review on here about the Whoopie Pies, but didnât see them on the menu. I am guessing you might have gotten rid of them. If you brought back a really good moist Big Whoopie Pie with real cream filling, like from someone local and sold it at your stores, OMG, that would be the best and it would definitely up your sales to have that ONE perfect easy dessert. Like the ones from âBox of MaineâŚâ oh so good. I would pay $6 to $10 dollars for that if it was really good.
The lobster was the freshest youâre gonna get from a place that serves lobster rolls here in Seattle. It was amazing and I would recommend this place to everyone. I am really excited to go back for some other items and to bring some friends with me.
Thank you Masonâs Famous...
Read moreDecent traditional lobster rolls if you need a lobster fix, served in a deli style establishment (by that I mean you get in line to order, they call your number when ready, and you go up and get it). What they did right: 1) Split-top roll is flat-sided, perfectly grilled and crispy on the outside yet soft and fluffy inside; 2) table shakers with Old Bay in them; 3) respectable sized chunks of lobster meat.
We each ordered a roll and a cup of soup. The rolls are good and at a price that won't break the bank (for lobster in Seattle, anyway). I opted for the "Bar Harbor" which is supposed to be 50% more meat, but in reality just seemed to be a chunk of tail meat slapped on top and appeared no more stuffed than the regular roll my friend had. Not worth the extra, IMO. Rolls really are as described. (Note: The "classic" roll is lobster with just a smidge of mayo and lemon. If you want what many would consider a traditional New England style roll with mayo, celery & lemon, you need to get the "lobster salad" roll.)
Both the clam chowder and lobster bisque are good. As advertised, they are no frills and you get exactly what you'd expect--just good, textbook examples of bisque/chowder. The chowder had sufficiently distinct pieces of clams, but it was nothing exceptional and could have easily been a cup of Snow's (that's not meant as a dig). Just good, by-the-book chowder. Same for the bisque.
There's no table service, but the tables and overall atmosphere of the dining...

After hearing rave reviews, I had been looking forward to trying Masonâs Famous Lobster Rolls for over a year. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of expectations. We visited the Pike Place location for a family day out and ordered the Connecticut Roll, Lobster Bisque (with lobster meat), and the Lobster Mac & Cheese.
Connecticut Roll: The bread was the highlight, perfectly grilled, fluffy, and buttery. Unfortunately, the lobster itself was a major letdown. It was chewy, rubbery, and had an overly fishy taste and smell. Fresh lobster should be sweet, tender, and clean, not what we were served.
Lobster Bisque: Thin, runny, and oily. It lacked the creamy, rich texture you expect from a good bisque. The lobster pieces in it were, once again, rubbery and off-putting.
Lobster Mac & Cheese: The mac itself was okay, but it was topped with something that tasted like crushed saltine crackers, which made it feel cheap. The dish was also overcooked, and no surprise, the lobster was rubbery and fishy here too.
Customer Service: The one saving grace was the staff. They were friendly, warm, and welcoming, which we appreciated.
For over $60, it felt like a waste of money and stomach space. The quality of the lobster was consistently poor across all three dishes, which is especially disappointing for a place that specializes in it. I wonât be returning and wouldnât recommend...
