This is probably one of the worst show venues I’ve ever been to in my life. I brought my kids there for an artist. They were excited to see, someone was trying to pick a fight with me. Security just let them sit there and curse in my face and call me out of my name. I’ve never been to a place that has drunk people running around screaming at their patrons and just let them stay in the bar. It must’ve been somebody that they know because at any other bar, you would’ve gotten kicked out for something like that. But here they told me that I was being annoying for even asking them to try and diffuse the situation and proceeded to walk away and leave the Drunk person screaming in my face. I hadn’t been drinking because Wells are $12. But honestly after that interaction. I didn’t feel safe enough to actually have a drink in there and know that security was gonna take care of any issues if somebody got crazy or irate. my teenage daughter was mentioning how they were just letting men go in and out of the women’s bathroom at the end of the concert they weren’t doing anything to stop this, and they were more concerned with pushing teenagers around and asserting their dominance over children instead of actually protecting their patrons. This is not the place you wanna go if you were looking for a SAFE night out in Seattle. 70% of the employees were just standing around on their phone not even doing their job. They didn’t seem very concerned with actually working. They were just there to collect their paycheck. I can see why they had signs at the front that say save the showbox because they don’t want to do the work to try and save it themselves with good...

Disappointing and Exploitative Venue Policy

I recently attended an event at Showbox Presents and was shocked by their handling of prohibited items. While I fully understand security measures, the inconsistent and exploitative fee structure were unacceptable.

At the entrance, security confiscated my metal reusable water bottle, stating that plastic bottles would have been allowed. However, instead of simply holding the item like they did with my mace, the venue forced me to pay a coat check fee or leave the concert entirely to dispose of it elsewhere. Since I rely on public transportation, I had no option to "leave it in the car," as they suggested.

Nowhere on their FAQ page does it mention that certain confiscated items require a mandatory paid coat check, nor does it explain why some items are held for free while others are subject to fees. This lack of transparency feels like a predatory cash grab, forcing customers into an unfair choice: pay up or miss the event they already purchased tickets for.

Under Washington’s Consumer Protection Act (RCW 19.86), businesses can not engage in unfair or deceptive practices, including hidden fees and misleading policies. The venue’s failure to clearly disclose its coat check fee beforehand or provide reasonable alternatives is in violation of these state regulations.

In a time when people are financially stretched, policies like this only alienate customers. A venue should prioritize clear, fair policies over nickel-and-diming attendees. I won’t be returning, and I encourage others to be aware of these hidden fees...

September 29, saw Shane Smith and the Saints. It was an amazing concert; we had VIP tickets. The Shobox is a great Venue love our seats by the bar. Nearing the end of the show; I choose to stand up behind my chair. All of a sudden, I was hit by something barely hanging on to the chair. The guy to my left was trying to hang on to me and my husband to the right was also hanging on to me. I was confused by it all: thought a beam had fallen on me or could I have been shot. This was running through my mind. Very scary incident. My husband finally told me that it was a very tall man that had fallen on me. He was totally blacked out! A tall man who is not heavy set probably weighs close to 180 to 200 pounds. The bartender apologized gave ice and a drink on the house or he paid for it out of his tips, not sure.

Anyhow, the next day I was in so much pain(Monday) and knew I had an appointment with my doctor that Wednesday. So I waited until then! Immediately, when I checked in for my appointment the office manager asked me “What happened” told the story above. My doctor heard me and immediately came out to see me. She gave me a shot of Toradol right then to relieve my pain. My right leg was bruised from my ankle up to my knee; left leg was bruised on knee mainly. I was having some abdominal pain but was trying to ignore it. Finally, my husband made me go hospital. Had to have my appendix removed that night. It’s been a roller coaster ride. Since the concert. I will of course go back to the Shobox to see my favorite band.

Just sorry that I had to...
