A friend recommended this place and overall it was good. The highlight of my meal were the Siam Lettuce Cups. Way expensive but it was so good. As for the rest of the meal... the Spring rolls were nothing special at all. I've had better at Mom & Pop shops at $2 a roll. The papaya salad was good but it was not spicy at all. Typically I get asked how spicy I would like my salad but the server did not ask so I asked about the spice level. Out of a range of 1 thru 5, I asked for level 4. They served a nice portion of the salad and the flavor was good, but it was NOT spicy at all. Like NOT AT ALL. I really don't know what a level 1 would have been if what I received was a level 4. As for the Mongolian Noodles, it was so very salty. The only way we were able to finish this dish was to add bean sprouts that came with the Seven Flavor Beef. And the Seven Flavor Beef was very good but once again, it was very salty. We had to order a side of rice just to enjoy the dish. I feel like if they intended for the beef to be that salty, the server should have suggested rice or it should automatically come with rice. I just couldn't imagine someone being able to eat the dish by itself. Also, our server was not great. I believe that they are trying to be a high end restaurant so the staff try to reflect this by having an air of detached professionalism but comes off as snobbery. When our server FINALLY came by to check on our meal, we explained that the beef was too salty so we needed a side of rice, she did not ask if we would like for it to be returned or for a new dish to be prepared or anything else. She was not good about checking on us and finally when we were done with our meal, sitting and waiting for someone, a Manager walked by and noticed our dishes. He began clearing them out and we just offered some feedback about the salt level. He was not happy to hear what we had to say. We did not ask for our bill to be adjusted or ask for any compensation. It was just feedback but he was not happy about the comment. I would consider coming back here to try other dishes or re-try some of the dishes, but considering that their service and attitude was SO bad, I will not go out of my way to come here again. I did love the Siam Lettuce...
Read moreWe got a meal deal of $60/pp for a 3 course, substandard meal. We got water in the first 5 min, but then didn't see our waiter for 15 min. He took our drink orders, didn't know anything about the meal package, and then left. 20 min later, we got our drinks which were $14/each with little to no alcohol (tasted like just mix) and wasn't seen again.for another 10 min. We put in our order and asked for another drink. Another 20 min go by and no drink yet. He sees us, grabs the drinks and scampers off again. 10 min later we got our nothing special potstickers. 15 min goes by and we're still sitting there, drinks gone, water gone. The waiter comes and apologizes and gives us dinner plates (shared meals, also by their design). 20 min goes by..no drinks, no food, and multiple.other tables with our special are starting to get angry and leave. Our waiter comes.over after the 2nd to last table leaves and asks us of we wanted our food boxed or he can just comp it. (The show this was a package with just started across the street). We inform him we already paid and I was not going to eat my $60 lame meal in a box on the street. I asked for our shitty drinks to be comped and a refund on the food..to the waiter. The manager never even came over. The waiter confesses that they over booked and our food was given to a last minute party upstairs. So in summary..we sat there for 2 hours with 2 drinks, no water refill, a pedestrian potsticker, and no food and the manager says he'll just give us tickets to a burlesque show and como the drinks. We still paid $120 for a 2 course meal that didn't happen..we got 2 potstickers each..I will never return to this resruarant, nor should u flock there...bad service, inflated prices, weak drinks, and the food I had was "eh" tasted the same if I cooked frozen potstickers at home. Btw..still waiting...

We used to love Wild Ginger back in the day (pre-pandemic), and have been to the downtown location so many times as well as their newer SLU location. However, I decided to take my boyfriend here on his birthday last week and we had a pretty terrible experience...
Our server was really nice and talkative, so nothing against him! The food just wasn’t what it used to be.
We were greeted by another girl who took our drink orders, but then a different server took over later. He said they were working together that night so that was fine, it was just a little confusing.
Then it took about 25 mins for our drinks to come out of the bar. I remember looking at the time and was amazed cause it didn’t seem that busy! Our beef skewers came out cold and dry. The scallops were pretty bland, we felt like it was missing something - a sauce or some sort of side. I thought the duck was pretty good, and the buns it came with, however the sauce was suuuper salty.
We wanted to order more food cause it wasn’t quite enough, and more drinks, but neither of our servers came back. The first girl was talking to a nearby table for what seemed forever. My boyfriend said it was his worst birthday ever :(
Finally the second server came back and we didn’t want to order anything else at that point because of everything. He gave us a free dessert for the birthday, which was super nice though! Not sure what happened, just an overall unfortunate experience, and probably won’t go back. I feel like Wild Ginger used to be such a nice fancy restaurant, it’s just not what it used to be. The food was lacking a lot, and pretty over priced for the size...
