Got the caribbean roast sandwich
the thing I loved most about this sandwich is it was absolutely loaded up with pork there was so much of the pork between the two sandwich buns that it was hard to actually take a bite of the full sandwich at once
I found that really impressive - they absolutely give you a very strong amount of meat here As for how the pork was, I thought it was really good You do get a lot of flavor from the fat inside, and it's obvious it's been roasted to perfection I didn't get much flavor from the marinade, however, as other than the pork fat I'm not sure there was as much extra flavor as I was hoping. The great thing was it was really juicy, however - pressing down on it would start oozing liquid - which is exactly what you want
Since the pork took up most of the sandwich, that's mostly what you got in each bite - with one major exception The onions were incredible - I absolutely loved the way these were caramelized, and they were soft yet had some denseness to them Most importantly, however, they were really large, and there was a lot of them. I don't think I've seen a place put this much of an onion on a sandwich - and it really worked to perfection here
The buns were solid - they weren't special, and you couldn't really taste the aioli much because of the pork flavor soaking up most of it, but I did find that it added something, and taking a bite of the bun itself gave me more of that flavor. It does seem like it could've been toasted, though, as that would make it better
The lettuce and jalapenos were also pretty solid add-ons here
This sandwich was slightly expensive, but they made up for it for providing something that was pretty large, especially when you consider the amount of pork that was in it and how good that pork was. Another thing to note here was how sloppy this sandwich was. Every part of this was wet - which leaves the sandwich, the plate, and your hands covered in pork juice and oil at the end of it. I like my sandwiches this way, so this was really appealing.
Overall, a pretty fantastic...
Read moreYears ago I was told a secret, something that only few knew. I was told of the ownership, the phenomenal foods, and great atmosphere that surrounded this gem in the Fremont area. Food was sooo full of flavor , sooo popular that no matter when I would go, there was ALWAYS a line outside, you better carry cash or be sent to the cash machine down the street. I would pass on the praise of this place after every visit, and coming from Yakima, Wa I would have to purchase extras to take back with me because others wanted.
THOSE DAYS ARE GONE.
I visited today and not present while driving by was the line... come to think of it... I was able to park next to the establishment with nobody honking or yelling at me to get outta the way.
I ordered what I knew... sticking to the deliciousness of my past experience.
When I ordered it was a higher price then I remembered. Even went out of the way to get a 4.40 piece of corn. Boy was that a wrong choice. Their play on a Hispanic corn on the cob dish that lacked flavor. I couldn't finish. the Sandwhich was lifeless, dead and they wrapped it tight to hold it together. No flavor. No shine. Also ordered was a Carribean Bowl. which also lacked the flavor of each component.... chicken (no sweetness), rice, beans, and way too many corn chips... like they were trying to hide the dish.
Spent 29 bucks on somebody's version of the past. This doesn't even closely resemble a place I would go and stand in line for 40 mns, and savor each bite, save a portion for a snack later.
I WILL NOT BE RETURNING. and tell my friends in my area... it's not what...

Cleanliness: from what I could see ,it was very clean. The tables and the kitchen counter were always being wiped down. The place was very tidy and simple.
View/ ambiance: it is a very laid-back and relax place we can go enjoy good food with people you know. It is simple on the eye and not overdone.
Taste: Good food. I enjoyed the carribean sandwhich. The baguettes used are delicious and crisp. The paseo sandwhich is almost like a cubano with its own spin. Good food always a line. But I question where in the carribean is this food from? I'm from the carribean and am at a loss. Cooks are no where from the carribean which makes me wonder if they may add their own twist here and again. Good food, delicious pork with an amazing flavor! Curious to taste true carribean food.
Service: the service is very quick, friendly, and fast. They're very helpful and help you decide what is really good and what is very tasty. Very friendly people always willing to help.
Overall: I had a good, quick, fun experience there. It was easy to order food and easy to make a choice. The Ambiance is very nice and very relaxing. It is a place I look forward to going to all the time and trying new food. Even though it is hard not border the Caribbean Roast Sandwich every time because of how much flavor it has. LOL. Definitely recommend to go and...
