I will rarely make bad reviews. Iâve spent most of my life in the industry. I am aware of the struggles in the industry and how sometimes mistakes happen, but this was deliberate. Iâve been in the industry enough to know that it was.
I ordered fried dough for an event on Tuesday, Dec 17th. Pre-ordered. I needed 15 orders. I got a confirmation text TUESDAY saying my order through uber would be delivered at 5:20pm. This was also my confirmation. I received a call from my Uber driver at 5:30pm stating the restaurant cancelled my order and that my card was refunded. Remind you, my event was at 6pm. I said, no, I never canceled it. So he hung up and called back saying they cancelled it because they âdidnât want to do itâ the delivery driver said the guy seemed like a great guy. So I called back and asked what was going on.
He stated he didnât have enough orders to do my order. I said ok, how many do you have? He said 3 but had 7 when my order âcame inâ and then he proceeded to tell me he âtriedâ calling me. Never once left a message if he did. I had been receiving phone calls all day. LIE number 1. Then I asked why he wouldnât at least save those seven orders for me and then said âthis is why you have to pre-orderâ which made me believe he was trying to teach me a lesson by not pre-ordering. Even though I did on the 17th. I absolutely interrupted him and said I did on the 17th. I caught him in two lies. Then after our conversation I get a text saying my ordered been canceled. Meaning he lied to my uber driver and told me he canceled it when he actually didnât. He tried to apologize but at this point I knew he was lying and just being a rude.
Absolutely appalled by the way this restaurant decided to handle this. I canât imagine how often they do this to people. There are so many other businesses who would gladly take money, especially in this...
Read moresoooo, my bf and i have been dying to try african food, esp the fufu.. unfortunately our hopes were really high and we were let down. it wasnât horrible, but it just wasnât satisfying. to start, the atmosphere was great. the music was nice and the customer service.
prices are extremely high for what they give you. the portions were alright, but the price just isnât worth it.
i got the egusi soup with tilapia bc i saw people online recommend it, and i was let down. my boyfriend and i are no where near picky eaters, but this wasnât exactly great. he finished most of his meal and we both enjoyed the fufu. i was enjoying my meal for the first couple bites and trying to adjust to the flavor and such, but the smell just made me lose my appetite and the texture of tripe and cow skin đđ.
i also ordered 2 meatpie , and did not receive them but my bf and i just said forget it and left because we didnât want to be let down more. im up to try this spot again and i suppose try something different from the menu, but honestly the other reviews iâve been seeing have said similar things, so now i think maybe next time i just have to really read reviews and pick wisely.
we left and took our food to-go with no plans on eating it anymore, instead we had hopes to find someone around who would possibly enjoy the meals because we did not want it to go to waste.
i understand this is a type of cultural restaurant and such, but for the price and quality, i canât say itâs amazing.. but i hope it was just the day we went that went wrong because i really wish to give it another try.
we spent over $100 in total, keep in mind it was only...
Read moreI went for a weekday lunch with a friend in March 2025. Nigerian food is one of my comfort foods so had been looking forward to eating there for quite some time. As a kid I grew up in different countries and spent a decade of my formative years in Jos, Plateau State and eating Nigerian food sometimes at home or at friendsâ houses was pretty normal.
I do occasionally make egusi stew, suya (courtesy of spices from England) and pounded yams but a proper auntie can make it way better.
We ordered the Jolloff rice & chicken (two scoops of rice and two drumsticks with gravy), meat pie (not big enough to be a meal for most) appetizer, plantain sides, puff puff and a plate of suya (and a hibiscus drink which I didnât taste).
It was all very good (even the too-chewy meat on the chicken drumsticksâmy only food complaint). I expected some tough meat but not on the drumsticks. Everything else was great!
The venue was pretty empty when we went to lunch at 12:30 and the prices are pretty high for entrĂ©es. A lot of dishes based on the portions I would expect to be no more than in the high $teens but Iâm guessing the location cost is fairly high. And, as I said, the food was fantastic.
I plan to go back and get the egusi stew, peppered snails and hot pepper goat soup (which is quite delicious if prepared well).
They might do well to offer some cheaper lunch-centric specials or pricing. But even with inflated prices I do...
