I got takeout from this place, and went with the Pho Dac Biet, which was pho with a combination of a bunch of different cuts of meat Since it was takeout, the pho, meats, noodles, and other things (like bean sprouts) were each given in a separate container, and i found a bowl large enough and mixed everything together
Starting with the broth, this was actually wonderful. It was pretty thin, but managed to maintain a richness to it that was quite nice. Additionally, it had that warmth to it that just makes you feel better inside. I feel like this would be a perfect place to get takeout from if you're sick, because it would be one of the few things you can eat that would make you feel way better afterwards. It was extremely well spiced and flavored as well
All the different meats were also pretty good. While I don't think I can identify most of the ones individually, one of the ones I did - the meatballs - were very enjoyable, as they soaked up a lot of the broth and tasted great. I do think there could've been a little more meat, but out of what was there - I certainly liked it The noodles were fine - nothing too incredible - but they did their job and retained their softness well, even when some of the leftovers were refrigerated
The portion size here was incredible - particularly the broth. There was so much broth I didn't even know what to do with. The amount of noodles provided was also very strong. his dish ended up lasting me two full meals, and at a price of $17, I believe is very justified
Overall, I generally do not like pho, but this place has made an exception to that...
Read moreHave to say I am quite disappointed of this place. My experience was just overall a negative one for the following reasons:
Misleading check in sign: the sign says seat yourself then use QR code to order. I went to seat myself then was told by staff to sign in and wait to be seated. In total it took 20 min for my group to be seated and even though there was no one else waiting to be seated. The reason for this is because they don’t have enough tables.
Online ordering even while dining in: Once you are seated they have you use the QR code to view the menu AND pay for your food. You must pay for your food before they serve it to you. Not only that, you are also required to tip them before you are provided any service. They only came to bring us water the first time and then to bring our food. No one came to check in on us after that. Since they already got their tip beforehand, they have no incentive to actually serve you.
NO BEEF RIB PHO: I specifically came to try this and it was not available at this downtown location. The physical menu they had posted on the window included beef rib pho, but it was not even an option to order through their online menu. Another reason I was mislead.
The Pho was mediocre and the noodles were starchy and cut really short. The meatballs were cut into quarters not slices, and the amount of meat they gave you was also weak. My combination bowl cost $14 and that was too much for a bowl of pho.
I had very high hopes from this place after seeing it online and was extremely disappointed with the...
Read morei would love to rate 5 stars but i gotta rate 1 star because of poor customer service quality. i just wanted green onion (not white onion mixed) in my pho. the first time, they gave me no onion. the second time i came back, the gave me 3 piece of green onion, which was barely nothing… i asked can i have a little extra green onion. they said all the green and white onion were mixed up already. they cant separate them out and just gave me green onion.
the restaurant was half full. the staffs were playing with their phone and chatting with each other. the kitchen lady did not have to work on a new order. my point is 1 out of 5 staffs can just cut up some green onion… obviously, they were not busy at all. my request was quick and achievable, but they didn’t really care.
i used to work for a vietnamese restaurant. it’s not hard to store a separate ziplock bag of green onion in the fridge. it’s pretty common to request only green onion in your pho.
even though the place is 7 minutes walking from my apartment, i don’t think i would come back because i cant enjoy pho without green onion, and i cant eat white onion… i hope the owner can see this and work it out with the staffs to improve the quality of...
