Got take out here one evening, wanted something quick and I’ve wanted to try this place. Unfortunately it was pretty disappointing. I got the miso ginger chicken luau plate with a side spam musubi. given the price ($15 for the plate and $5 for the musubi) it was definitely not worth it. While takeout is always different from dining in, I overall was disappointed in the flavor of the food and the quantity of the main plate. The musubi was okay - the spam and rice were well cooked. But the sauce hardly tasted like anything and didn’t do anything to tamper down the salt of the spam. Also, $4.75 for a spam musubi seems pretty crazy to me, the still pricey $3.50 musubi at Uwajimaya are much better. The miso ginger chicken luau plate was also just okay. The chicken was overcooked and dry (at least not undercooked!), there wasn’t a lot of it, and the mac salad and coleslaw were a bit flavorless. The sauce on the chicken too was all dried up so there wasn’t a ton of flavor to accompany the rest of the plate on the rice. I think takeout could’ve been a factor here, but even so I found it pretty disappointing.

Service was kind when I picked up the food and it was a busy place. I might give this place another try...

NEW UPDATE: I emailed the contact that responded to this review and still have yet to receive an answer and it is now September. Don't let their comments fool you. They will not make it right.

We placed an order earlier today (around 10:00am) for pickup from Marination through DoorDash for our lunch meeting. We arrive11:50 am (our scheduled pickup time) and was told that they didn’t have an order under my name. So I pulled up the order confirmation on my phone and showed the gentleman, to which he rudely replied with an attitude, “ well we don’t have your order, we will make it when it comes through.” I have worked at restaurants that cater to DoorDash and Uber, and it has nothing to do with them not coming through, it’s either their connection, or their employees not checking the DoorDash orders. There was no apology and nothing but attitude....

First time in the city and heard good reviews about Marination. Ordered late one evening via GrubHub. Decided on the pulled pork and spam sliders. Both exceeded my expectations. The slaw adds the perfect crunchy, cool texture while the sauce is very unique and adds the perfect pop of spice and flavor. Slightly disappointed that the pork katsu sandwich wasn't listed on any of the meal delivery sites; GrubHub, UberEats, Post-whatever. Called the location to ask if they were sold out but they said they weren't. So something is up either on the delivery service apps or on their end. None of the sandwich section of the menu was listed on any of the delivery apps. Not their fault but still, would have been nice to try something their known for. Aside from that small hiccup, everything else was great. Flavor, textures, spice, temperature....

This is a pretty small, mostly takeout place that seems to serve Hawaiian/Asian food I picked up the Pork Katsu sandwich here - but I can’t say I liked it much The pork was just really dry - it had no juice whatsoever. in fact, the entire burger just felt super dry, from the buns, to the (lack of) sauce, to the inside of the meat. There was not enough mayo or sauce on here The breading was fine - it was pretty lightly done with the crumbs, and some spices were added, but nothing too special. The one good part was that the slaw tasted pretty good For the price, this is pretty expensive for a sandwich that doesn’t offer too much Overall, I think this place has other good stuff on the menu (aloha tots look interesting), but this is not one of them. 6/10

I just ordered the spicy pork lunch plate and when I opened it to eat for lunch a couple fruit flies were inside flying around i do t feel like eating the food anymore and it’s a hassle walking back to marination due to it being my lunch break at work. I hope for future times ahead the workers make sure the work stations are clean and if they do see fruit flies or any kind of flies or bugs to make sure double check and triple check before bagging up the food that’s all customers want. We want our food safe and not messed with I ended up killing the fruit flies but below are pictures of the dead fruit flies I wiped them off with the fork to the right and the food is to the left.

I got the Luau with Beef Kalbi along with a Malasada. Taste wise I did enjoy it, but I feel pretty ripped off by the price. I went in expecting small portions from the reviews, but thought it would be okay for me since I usually eat less than the average person. This was my dinner and I was still hungry afterwards despite spending $18! Kind of ridiculous. I wouldn't recommend for that alone. The portion is enough for maybe a light lunch. Doesn't hold a candle to the giant portions in Hawaii. Some nice things - Prepared very quickly after placing order - Looked modern and clean inside - Malasada was okay. I think it would hit the spot if you're really craving one.
