I do not recommend Quinn's Pub. My reason for a 3 star review was specifically for the competent, but unfriendly, unwelcoming, and cold service that my friend and I received during our recent visit. There are numerous, better serving, and more welcoming bars and restaurants in Seattle, and I suggest you skip Quinn's Pub for another.
We decided to visit Quinn's Pub because a friend was visiting Seattle, and their partner, a chef, recommended Quinn's Pub for the food. I had never been. We looked at the pub's website and noticed that we could reserve a table. It seemed like a great spot, so we booked a table for Thursday, July 20th at 6:45 pm. We arrived around that time.
When I arrived, I noticed that the pub's atmosphere was airy and clean, with warm wood and metal modern touches around. There were few people when we arrived, so definitely no reservation was needed, at least that day.
My problem was with the service. Even though the pub was fairly empty i.e., not busy, the bartender did not greet me with more than a quiet mumbled "hello", even though I sat at the bar (my friend arrived before me). No eye contact, smile, or nod to acknowledge me, which was odd because we were sitting at the bar. My friend and I decided that we could chat more comfortably if we moved to a table, many of which were free, so we moved before ordering. The same bartender came to our table, and we received the same type of unfriendly and unwelcoming treatment throughout our stay at Quinn's.
In contrast to the service, the food was excellent and very high quality. My friend and I each ordered a burger. My burger arrived cooked to medium-rare perfection; it was juicy, and the fresh veggies, thick bacon, and bread tasted excellent. If I were rating Quinn's based off of the food, I would rate it a 5-star.
Also, I ordered a mojito, and even though the drink was brought by the same unfriendly bartender, it was surprisingly very good. As I mentioned above, the bartender was competent.
Overall, the unwelcoming service was a real letdown and a shame because Quinn's Pub was recommended to us and my friend and I were visiting Quinn's for the first time. We were hoping for a much better experience, and I will probably not visit...
Read moreI don’t like writing bad reviews but unfortunately I came away feeling pretty fed up after dinner at Quinn’s.
Me and my partner were greeted in a cold and unfriendly manner, the barman seemed totally uninterested as did the server. We ordered two 12oz Belgian beers, both tasted a bit flat (we’re British and know good European beer), it seemed as though they were from the bottom of the keg despite the barman saying otherwise.
The service was incredibly poor, especially for this price point. The ‘pub’ wasn’t even half full. Numerous times I tried to get the servers attention while she was more interested in checking her phone.
Once dinner finally arrived, it was mediocre. We had two hanger steaks, one with the potatoes and the other with fries. Fries were definitely from a bag and way too salty, the hanger steak tasted nice and was cooked well, but both of ours were cold. My partner commented on his potatoes being cold too, and the chef bizarrely served this with a “corn salsa” which was cold too — and the corn, from a tin. The red wine jus that accompanied the steaks tasted good, but again, was stone cold.
Admittedly we ate most of our food because we were crazy hungry — if the server had bothered to come and check on us to see if everything was ok, we would have said something.
Honestly, with as much competition in Capitol Hill as there is, this place needs to do much, much, better. We won’t be returning.
Please sort your staff out, I’ve personally worked in service myself for years and know how hard a job it can be — but there is no reason for totally disinterested and frankly, rude, staff. We tipped below average, because, you made sure to make us feel totally...
Read moreI came here for my best friend's birthday dinner. Given that it was a Saturday night and they don't take reservations, 30 minutes wasn't too bad of a wait. If your party is bigger than two and you've got a bit of a wait, then it' would be best if you figured out some sort of waiting plan. There's not much of a waiting area -- just 4 chairs by the door. You could try just grabbing a drink at the bar, but chances that there are any open spots are rare.
My default move when I go to a new pub-style restaurant is to order a burger. Mostly because its my safest bet, but also because I think a restaurant's ability to make the simpler dishes is a better way to gauge its level of excellence. And I was most certainly impressed by this burger. It was dense, but not in a dry meatloaf type of way. It was meaty and moist, and I could definitely taste the beef, if that makes sense. I ordered my burger medium-well, and they did a good job of cooking it out to that temperature. The bacon that was on the burger was nicely crisped. What I liked especially was how the bacon didn't overwhelm the burger; it was more of a compliment.
The service was fair. There were some moments when I was wondering where our waiter wandered off to.
For dessert I ordered a scoop of peppermint ice cream. It was pretty good.
Parking on the streets around here is super tough, so if you plan on driving, then be prepared to walk to the restaurant because the closest you'll probably get is a couple blocks away.
Given the chance, I would definitely come back...
