We’ve always enjoyed Some Random Bar and were excited to return, but today’s experience was really disappointing. The inconsistency in service is surprising and honestly a bit upsetting.
We recently visited on April 25th with our dog and had a great time. We met the woman owner, our server was kind and welcoming, and we were told that on Sundays dogs are allowed to sit inside. We even ordered a dog pattie for our pup, which the server said they make specifically because the owner loves dogs. It was a wonderful experience and made us want to return, especially since we live nearby.
We came back today, Sunday at 7 pm, to celebrate our dog’s 9th birthday. Sadly, the experience was completely different. The host greeted us with a rude attitude and didn’t offer us a table inside. We gave the benefit of the doubt and assumed it might be busy after a game.
When we asked about the dog pattie, she said she had never heard of it and would need to check with the kitchen. This was confusing because we had definitely ordered it in April and saw it on our tab. We decided to order a sandwich to share and two beers while we waited. When she came back to check on us, we asked again about the dog pattie. She told us we’d have to talk to Gene, the owner, who is only there on Fridays, and that there wasn’t a button for it in the system. No effort was made to help or explain beyond that.
Honestly, if we had known they wouldn’t accommodate the dog pattie, we wouldn’t have stayed. This was supposed to be a little birthday treat for our dog, and it just felt like we weren’t welcome. When we asked for the check, we were again told to come back on a Friday and speak to Gene.
This was our first negative experience at a place we really liked. The host today was unhelpful and rude, which is a shame because we’ve never had bad service here before. Giving 3 stars for our previous visits and in hopes that the management can clarify whether they truly welcome dogs and offer consistent, friendly service...
Read moreThis place is a must stop if you are in Seattle! The menu is the right combination of things for all... Especially if you make it for brunch on Sunday! I recommend anyone going to a game to make this their stop before the game to get the "Chik-Fil-A Is Closed On Sunday" plate! The Chicken Parmesan is my top choice on the menu... after starting with some pull apart bread and clam chowda! It's a tough choice between the brownie and ice cream, or the bread pudding dessert... So I got both! Hard choice to call one better than the other, as they are simply delicious! Now that I have spoken about all the irrelevant stuff, time to focus on the important stuff... Like a Watermelon Mojito, or an Espresso Martini. This of course is unless you make it for brunch and want a Jean's Mimosa, or the BEST Bloody Mary ever! The bar can make absolutely anything... but ask about The Seattle Freeze! Very reasonable price for everything. The greatest thing is that the actual owners are there everyday and working alongside everyone... not sitting in a back office. They proudly display their names on a board and make it known that they want to provide the best service. They take the time to speak with their guests, and their appreciation is heart felt. Folks, if you want a great experience, put this on your list when you are in Seattle. I was there for a week, and went there 4 times (including brunch, don't miss it!). Life is short, you only live once... And this place...

I was waiting in line outside (there was a wait for a table). I told the door guy I needed a table for four. He said since my whole party wasn't there, I couldn't get a 4 top.
I asked if I could just sit at the bar until they got there, and he said, "I told you no!"
I tried to explain that I was only asking for one seat at the bar for myself and not the four top that he said I couldn't have.
He then told me "You're not getting it at all, you must be one of those River people."
Yes, he said I must be one of those "River people".
I looked at him super confused and asked "what do you mean by that because?" I had no idea...
He started to dance, almost as if he was doing some sort of jig and said "yeah down by the river, living in a van."
I stood there still confused and was like "what?!?"
The couple behind me waiting in line thought this was super weird too, and even though we'd all been waiting for almost an hour, they left and I decided to leave too.
I still don't know what he meant by calling me a river person. But obviously, I'll never be...
