Update to my review from 2 years ago: Their food has somehow gotten even better. Chris makes the best tacos in Seattle. Seriously. I always get the fish and the "fat hen" tacos. The green sauce is sublime. Beer is still good. Service and general environs and friendliness is still wonderful. But the policy of keeping the door open through the cold winter is the reason I dock a star and probably won't come back again until summer. Come on. We're all vaccinated now six times. Can we just go back to normal and not shiver in the cold??? Please???
**Really well decorated space with nice wood tables and candle lighting and a nice wood bar to sit at too, as well as patio garden seating with heating lamps. The beer is very good (and I'm a bit of a beer snob), both with their own brews as well as bottles from their sister brewery Sovereign Brewing, which specializes in sours and funkier stuff. The staff are very friendly and take the time to learn your name and remember you when you come back. The customers are friendly and chatty too. Just a great neighborhood bar. I had the farm salad with kale and fennel and it was one of the best salads I've ever had. My only complaint is that it was quite cold last time I went as they kept the front door...
Read moreEdit: Got a response from the owner and revised the review! Makes a lot of sense too as to why bikes would be a concern in such a tight space. I wish they had led with the info about having loaner locks available! Upgraded to 4 stars for engaging with me and for a more thorough explanation than what was delivered in person. And I do LOVE supporting local businesses - few things make me happier ;)
Review From a Cyclist: I've lived my whole life in Seattle and never have I been turned away from an establishment for being on a bike! If you have a bike that you're not comfortable locking up/if you forgot a lock you should edit feel welcome because they have loaner locks available! end edit
old content "probably shouldn't go here - you will be turned away at the door as 'Bikes are not allowed.'" It was explained to me that they had "Worked really hard to get the bike rack out front" but, as someone who has lost bikes to theft in Seattle, I don't leave my bike unattended anywhere. There is a segment of the population that they're not accommodating (Seattle has a lot of cyclists) and I would encourage them to find a way as every other business has.end old content (BTW they are accommodating - just ask for a...
Read moreThis place is clearly liked by a lot of people. It was a Friday around 6, so definitely busy with happy hour crowds. It's obviously a beer place, which I don't really drink, but they have a full bar as well. Nice outdoor patio which is needed to handle the overflow crowd inside. I'm giving it 3 stars because the experience was annoying. The crowds near the bar thinned, and we wanted to order a 2nd drink and when my husband tried to order it from the bartender....same place and person he ordered from the first time, he looked at him and was like, you need to get in the beer line and order your drink. Not sure why when we had been standing there long before those folks got in line, but we couldn't get anyone's attention till after the beer line formed. It was just strange. And frankly we have a rule that if an establishment acts like they don't really care about serving us, we just leave. Not worth being frustrated. The general vibe from the staff during a busy time wasn't one of urgency, hustle, or concern for customer experience. That's my impression. So if you love beer you might not care but I can get better service from other bars...
