There were a lot of good things about the chicken teriyaki from here, but I did have one major issue that affected the overall experience

Starting with the good things, I found the teriyaki sauce to be really good. It was sweet, but not sickly so - a sauce that had just the right amount of sugar & viscosity to stick to the chicken and the rice without feeling immovable or transparent. It really did add a ton of flavor to both parts of the meal

I also thought the rice was decent enough. While on the drier side, it definitely did its job. also, there were small char marks on the chicken, indicating a good level of grilling

Another big plus was the portion size. This place gives you about 280g of rice with 450g of chicken, which is basically enough for two meals. For about $15, that's a pretty good deal - especially when something is as easy to reheat as this

The side salad was also good - I liked the dressing, which seemed to be a more citrus-y ranch sauce

The problem I had with the meal, though, was the chicken was just super dry. In my experience, it's not easy to have chicken thighs end up as dry as they did here. This had a huge impact on my enjoyment of the meal - because of the amount of chicken in here. When basically every piece is tough, chewy, and lacking juice, it's just not a fun eating experience. My only explanation is this chicken was pre-sliced and sitting in the restaurant waiting for someone to order it, and it dried out in the meantime. This is also supported by the fact that my food was ready like 2 minutes after ordering. Whatever the reason, it's pretty inexcusable to have chicken this flavorless. I would've really liked this spot if not for this issue

Overall, there are some positives, but when the main attraction of the meal is bad as it is here, it...

So I've been eating here since 2013. The woman who used to run the counter knew our order by heart! We had a menu taped on our fridge from when the Chicken Teriyaki was $7.95.

It got way more expensive lately after the management change, yeah. If you tip %20, the basic Chicken Teriyaki is $17 after tax.

We have eaten here a lot less because of it for sure.

That said; each order is so much food; enough food to split between my partner and I and have us both be full, which prices it about at Chipotle.

The food is still solid! And I say that going in skeptically! The chicken has the nice smoky char. In fact it actually is better than I remember. More moist and fatty! The sauce is... Well, it's teriyaki sauce. The salad... I miss the cucumber salad to be honest. I feel like if they sprinkled some sesame seeds over the chicken people would feel like they got an even better dish tbh.

Look, $17 for Teriyaki is A Lot. I don't know if the kitchen staff are getting a fairer shake than before, but I hope they are. But it's still good Teriyaki, and if you turn it into two meals, that pricetag is not out of line with most places. I really bristled at the price jump, but I'm pretty sure they realize they are giving most people """""two meals worth"""" so keeping that in mind? Yeah, we'll probably come back when we're in the mood!

4-stars because price, but the food and...

Rich people's teriyaki

Tell me what you guys think..

I ordered:

1 spicy teriyaki 1 spicy pork 1 large order guyoza 2 sodas

PRICE $70 (TIP WAS SEPERATE CASH

The rice was cooked probably and not overcooked or wet.

The spicy chicken was trimmed, and the chicken was good decent. This spicy is made with onions and thinly sliced carrots.

The spicy pork was "kinda trimmed" and had a lot of grissal that could not be eaten, but the crows i fed loved it.

Guyoza was large size and was decent.

The place at lunchtime on a Friday had zero people inside, I wonder why?? $70 meal is super extreme for a teriyaki joint. Even though the food was decently good but I can not afford to eat here when there is a mediocre place down the street that is a little cheaper....lol. I would think since the quality is there, you should shoot for quantity and sell more teriyaki, and then the 4 people standing around can keep busy.

Anyways, you decide for yourself.

I find it weird that the reviews I read don't mention the price point for...

Decided to stop by looking for a good lunch. As we entered we were greeted by a friendly young lady. She was very shy but had a great attitude and helped us navigate the menu. The restaurant was very clean and organized. There was a good amount of seating and space. We decided in a regular chicken teriyaki and a spicy teriyaki with Gyoza. The salad that was given was very fresh and the sauce was tasty. The teriyaki sauce was full of flavor and held a great flavor profile.the rice was on point and paired well together. as far as the spicy teriyaki It was very flavorful had just a right amount of spice that would be good for anyone whether you liked a light spicy to a heavy spice. I would definitely recommend this place and I look forward to coming back to trying more menu items.
