Disappointing Experience at Top Pot

I had high hopes for Top Pot and was genuinely excited to grab breakfast here before catching the ferry. Unfortunately, my experience fell far short of expectations.

The donuts, which I anticipated would be a highlight, were underwhelming—more reminiscent of supermarket quality than a specialty shop. The chocolate glaze tasted off, and the dough was heavy and lacked the soft, chewy texture I was hoping for.

To add to the disappointment, I asked the staff if they had donuts with chocolate filling, as I’d seen something that looked promising in the display. I was told they only offered three flavors for filled donuts: Bavarian cream, lemon, and raspberry. However, as I was leaving the store, I noticed donuts labeled with chocolate filling still sitting on the shelf!

The miscommunication and lackluster quality left me unimpressed. Unfortunately, this was not the indulgent treat I’d hoped for. Ps: They don’t have a recycling bin, which is surprising considering how important recycling is in today’s world. It’s especially unexpected in a city like Seattle, where recycling is widely practiced and...

My ferry arrives during weekdays around same time they open (6 am) and they are on my way to the bus so I decided to try them today.

I felt a little awkward putting the order in online immediately as they opened 😅 but the person who was working was completing my order when I arrived and they were so nice!! My order was done earlier than expected, the latte with caramel added was delicious, and the assorted donut holes were really good too.

The location is great and their building area is very pretty and well maintained. Plus, I really appreciated the signs leading up to their area (2nd floor). Super helpful.

What's not to love? Will pass...

Discovered this regional chain on a recent visit to Seattle, where we visited a branch every day and still failed to work through their epic selection of donut based treats including both seasonal and regional offerings (including St. Patrick's Day and Ovaltine cream filled options). We didn't get round to trying the bacon maple, but everything we did try was delicious (salted caramel ring donuts and the chocolate cake were among my personal favourites) as were their hot drinks. Best visited before 2/3pm, when the selection of donuts starts to dwindle in...

I was really looking forward to Top Pot. I had read many reviews and watched many videos of bloggers rant and rave about this place. I was stoked full of excitement to grab breakfast here before a busy day of strolling through the city. I must say however, it was underwhelming and did not hit the mark I was expecting. The donuts were of a supermarket quality and my drink was forgotten about and then made wrong after they had to make it. Maybe I just hit it on a bad day. I’m not a one and done guy and would definitely try it again( we all have bad days)!

Top Pot is a local donut shop that's known for fresh donuts and using local seasonal ingredients. This location is near Post Alley upstairs, and has a few tables inside to eat at. They have a good selection of donuts to choose from and their prices aren't that bad, but the donuts are a good size. Try their seasonal fruit ones because they rotate as the fruit is ripe. The staff here is amazing, super friendly and always helpful with what's the best right now. Would highly recommend stopping here for a quick breakfast and coffee if you work downtown.

One of the few coffee shops in the area that was open on Saturday morning. I, like others walked right past it following the guidance of my phone since it is on the second level. There are stairs and an elevator to get you there. They have your quintessential coffee shop drinks. Good selection of donuts and long johns, muffins and fritters. Nice clean store. Good views. Definitely one to keep in mind if you're in the area on a Saturday morning or any other morning for that matter.
