My wife and I recently had the pleasure of taking the Bainbridge Island Ferry to explore the island, and what an experience it was! From the moment we boarded the ferry, the journey was smooth, efficient, and filled with breathtaking views of the Puget Sound.
The ferry itself was well-maintained and the staff were friendly and helpful, ensuring that our trip was enjoyable. The ride offered a perfect blend of relaxation and excitement as we viewed the Seattle skyline fading into the distance. In terms of photography, the opportunities were endless, capturing the essence of both the city and island life.
Arriving at Bainbridge Island, we were greeted by charming streets, picturesque landscapes, and a welcoming community. We spent the day exploring the local shops, indulging in some delightful cuisine, and taking in the natural beauty of the island. The trip back on the ferry, with clear blue-sky views of the skyline and Mount Ranier, was the perfect end to a perfect day.
For anyone considering a visit to Bainbridge Island, the Bainbridge Island Ferry is a must! It adds an extra layer of adventure to the trip and provides a unique perspective of Seattle and its surroundings. Whether you're a local or a tourist like us, this trip is a memorable way to spend a day.
Our trip was a delightful adventure that we'll cherish for years to come. It's more than just transportation; it's an experience in itself. Thumbs up for the Bainbridge...
Read moreRiding the ferries is a necessity to get from my home to Seattle. The ride from Bainbridge Island is between 30 and 35 minutes. The ferry terminal on Bainbridge Island is ok, as is the one in Seattle. The ferry service has really declined over the years. The price keeps going up,- my husband and I paid over $28.30 for a senior car driver and passenger one-way ticket today. My husband had heart surgery in Seattle yesterday and dtiving yo our home in Poulsbo wasn't an option. The State of Washington mandated during COVID that all state employees (ferry workers fall in that category) be vaccinated or fired. Alotvof the ferry employees chose to stay safe and declined the vaccination. The employees have not been replaced to their former numbers. Additionally, the ferries have not been maintained because the last governor decided they should be replaced with electric ferries ( they are still in the pre-plannong stage) and if they're ever built, it will be years in the future. Because of this, the ferries hardly ever run on time and can't be relied upon to get you from point A to point B with any reliability. If you have all the time in the world (if you aren't on a timeline) with enough money to pay over $60.00 to drive your car on the ferry and over $10.00 round trip if you're between 19 and 64, the view on Puget Sound is amazing...

From the moment we stepped into the Seattle terminal, the experience felt more like an airport lounge than a ferry terminal. The design is sleek, open, and full of natural light with beautiful views of Puget Sound right from the waiting area. Clean bathrooms, organized waste and recycling stations, plenty of seating, and even a snack vending machine (credit card only!) made the short wait comfortable and easy.
Staff were courteous and the boarding process was intuitive—even for first-timers. Signs were clear, and there’s a helpful flow for foot traffic, including a few different waiting zones. The ferry itself was on time, and we enjoyed the scenic ride to Bainbridge Island with smooth boarding and disembarking.
If you’re traveling with teens or kids, the environment is calm but still has enough people-watching and window-gazing to keep things interesting.
Pro tip: Grab snacks before boarding or hit the vending machine near the entrance. And be sure to look out the giant windows for some incredible views while you wait!
Definitely recommend this route if you’re exploring the Puget Sound area or planning a relaxing...
