The Vibe: What a, beautiful dining experience. Very earls vibe, but without the earls menu and a bit more intimate. Ive visited on more than one occiasion and the decore has forsure stood out the most. They really paid attention to the details when decorating and I love it. I especially like how the space flows. The dinning spaces wrap around the main bar with rails and other spacial dividers that separate the different dining spaces while still allowing it to feel large and open. I even got to watch a few sports games. Big win.
My food was delicious, but my partner couldn't eat her food. I ordered the yuzu salmon and she ordered the burger. I'll be honest, both of our orders were over cooked, but I think it worked out well for my salmon.
Yuzu Salmon: The salmon was tasty, but idk if it had any yuzu flavor. More of a sweet flavor like creme corn. Also the salmon was not attractive to eat. Yes everything was position on the plate nicely, but the salmon covered in the sweet cream corn sauce and toped with cooked and wilted spinach. Meh, I try each thing to saver then after a few bites just mash it all up and chow down.
Small Dishes: I've also had a few of their small dishes such as the signature wings and some fried shrimp and potatoe cakes (Bahn tom shrimp fritters). Both pretty darn good. The wings had better flavor, but the shrimp fritter was fun to eat. Be ready for the small peices of lettuce thats supposed to wrap them, too small to wrap. Either way I felt like I got my money worth and enjoyed each dish I tried.
Quirks: My service has always been odd. The servers I've had feel like they are new to the industry, but are trying their best to be 5 star robo servers, but are just too darn human and scattered. Also, on my last visit, every glas at ny table had lip prints on the glasses. Which yes I found every odd, because who just puts their lips on everything and just leaves before anyone notices and replaces them. So I asked about it and they let me know it's consistent residue from their dish washer and they try to wipe it off before the bring then out to the customer. Besides that, this place is impressively clean. Don't let me false dirty glass scare ruin anything for you.
Conclusion: I do recommend eating here. Especially since it's always empty. Ive had zero problems getting a spot on a Friday or Saturday night. Never been more than 2 or 3 other parties inside and they have so much room inside. I will admit, half the menu does seem a bit more pricey than it should be, but the other half aint too bad.
Extended comments: Based on the look of this place I'd expect the food to be more expensive and the service to be a bit more sharp, but maybe that's the trade off. I've been to a lot of restraunts in the area and as far as Asian food goes, lets just say, they have some serious competition. I hope they find...
Read moreStellar brunch, lovely space & now a fan of Vietnamese coffee!
Went for brunch on a Sunday morning and it was delightful! First off, Woo has a lovely space: Very clean, servers well dressed, tasteful seasonal decorations, and a captivating accent wall near the kitchen. (The women's restroom was akin to a spa!) Pleasant yet not pretentious, as the abundant TV's and drink selections would make for a spot where one (or a group) could relax, dine, and imbibe for a fair stint.
Brunch: Delicious and substantial portions! Had the omelet and though initially balked at the add-on of dungeness crab, decided in favor and was unexpectedly rewarded with a literal mound of crabmeat atop a fluffy portion of eggs that filled half my plate. Dining partner got the crab benedict--smothered in a velvet hollandaise that blended beautifully with the golden, flowing egg yolks. Regretted not ordering extra sauce, which harmoniously softened the crispy edges of the abundant side of breakfast potatoes. (Also remorseful for not taking pics!)
Though the vittles were indeed above par, my highlight was the Vietnamese coffee. If, like me, you happen to be unfamiliar with the beverage, you can expect a silky iced refreshment of mild, creamy sweetness mixed with a liquid roastiness that would make an espresso scurry off to hide under the bed. I opted for a second one instead of another mimosa--which they offer by the glass or as a 'bottomless' option (though pricey, as the bottomless mimosa goes for $28 per person, per each member of the entire dining party).
Phenomenal spot, and plenty of tables, booths & bar seats to be had. Definitely looking forward to a return visit to try fare off the regular menu--which now I would anticipate being anything...
Read moreSuper excited to have an elevated and aesthetic yet approachable venue to eat & drink at so close to the Climate Pledge Arena! Anyone who's been to the arena knows that the food and drinks are insanely expensive there. So having Woo Bar that has decently priced food and drinks within walking distance is a game changer.
First off, the interior is super cute. When you walk in, you can see the southeast Asian inspired decor.
Next, the food menu has a lot of my favorites: the garlic noodles (with tocino), their take on fried rice (rice & egg always hits the spot), Yukon gold bars (crispy outer layer with mashed potatoes inside - def comfort food!), garlic mussels, crispy rolls (lumpias are my fave).
I also got to try the Silog from the brunch menu which is perfect for people who want a savory meal for brekkie. For those with a sweeter tooth, the lychee French toast and Ube pancakes are great choices from what I heard from friends who ordered those.
The service has been consistently great each time I've dined there. Often times, the owner will personally host and seat us and make sure we're being taken care of. The servers are friendly and accommodating.
Can't forget to mention the cocktails there. My absolute fave cocktail of all is the Woo Mule. I've never drank anything like it: sweet with heat !!!! So so so good.
Prices are not bad for the more elevated environment.
I'll be coming back to dine & drink with...
