The best thing about this Hampton Inn & Suites is the location. Absolutely perfect for sightseeing, families, and if you enjoy walking about a city. For three nights, we had four suites here with our family and three out of the four suites were good - the last suite was a bit of a disappointment.
The suite in question is a two bedroom, two bathroom that was shared by two couples. First off, our visit was just this summer (hot!) and the AC in one of the king bedrooms wasn't working at all. Not that it didn't cool the room down (it didn't), but the unit was literally falling off the wall and the thermostat came off completely. Additionally, the electric fireplace in the living room area had a pilot light that remained on the entire time - not just a tiny hint of a flame, but a good 6-inch fire burning the whole visit - and yes, the switch was off. The suite was about 75-78 degrees on average due to the constant fireplace alone. Really awful for a summertime stay.
What was also not mentioned in the room description was that this particular room came with a patio. Upon discovery of said patio, we found that the glass door opened not only at street-level (which felt extremely unsafe at night), but to a patio filled with trash and the cooling ducts for the air conditioners. Really awful discoveries. We kept two large, heavy suitcases barricading the glass patio door for the duration of our stay.
These issues were all discovered upon arrival. After laughing off how ridiculous the experience started off, we did call the front desk to report the issues, especially the AC & fireplace, only to be met with a lackadaisical attitude from the attendant. To our disappointment, he calmly noted that there's nothing he could do, would notify maintenance to stop by the next day, and that there were "no other rooms left in the whole entire city of Seattle" that night. We hung up and burst out laughing at that nonsense - thank goodness our group had a sense of humor, because it was all we could do to laugh it off.
Spacially, the rooms were fantastic. Nobody felt like we were encroaching upon each other and the kitchen fridge was a standard size fridge, not a mini. Bathrooms were large, clean, and featured glass showers, which was a nice find. Water pressure was great in the showers and the beds were clean and comfortable.
All in all, we likely wouldn't stay here again unless we absolutely had to, but might recommend to others just passing through if you're looking to sightsee. It's a good overall value for groups/families, even though our experience was subpar. Everything at CityCenter was walkable (about 5-10 min) and there's a shuttle to Pike Place Market from CityCenter as well for $3/pp. We didn't feel unsafe walking about and even made a few stops at the QFC Market about a block away (try the local cheese...
Read moreWe have always had excellent experiences at Hampton Inns. This one, in particular, is PERFECT for those visiting Seattle for the first time. It was only a 10-minute walk for us to go to the Space Needle, Museum of Pop Art, Chihuly Glass Art Garden, and about a 25-minute walk to Pikes Place Market. We figured that if we can walk all over Disneyland all day, we can certainly walk to/from these places with ease! Across the street is a grocery store, named QFC. The picture is included. So if you want to save money and/or buy food (healthy or not) for your Seattle adventures, that is the place to go. There's even a Starbucks inside in case you didn't want to take advantage of the free coffee offered at the hotel. The room and the bathroom were clean. We noticed that there was an abundance of outlets! So charging any of your gadgets is not a challenge here! There is a refrigerator and a microwave. The microwave was not very strong, though. It took a couple of tries to warm my the rest of my latte. So I recommend you use the one in the lobby area if you're nuking a frozen dinner. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast every morning. We didn't eat everything available, but we found that they had a waffle station, bagles/cream cheese, toast, cold cereal, oatmeal, eggs, bacon, coffee/tea, milk, and juice. If you don't feel comfortable eating around a lot of people (due to COVID or because you don't like people in the morning), they have trays and to-go boxes that you can take to your room. I didn't get to use the gym (since we were walking everywhere), but from what I saw it was clean, the equipment is modern, they have free weights, a treadmill, eliptical, and lots of room. (We've been in hotels where their workout spaces were the size of a storage closet.) They also provide towels and complimentary water bottles. There are also a handful of restaurants to choose from. We ate a very late dinner at the Cairde Public House & Bar on our last night there. That will be a separate review. Most importantly, the staff at the Hampton Inn were wonderful! Each one we encountered were professional, helpful, friendly, and all around nice! They treated us like family. When we visit again, we will definitely stay there again. Oh! And bring an umbrella. When the Weather app says that there is a 50% chance of rain, it is telling the truth! We visited in September. So we did not experience a heavy downpour, but it helped that we brought an umbrella and water...
Read moreI am disappointed with my service at the Hampton Inn by Hilton. To begin, when we arrived, their system was down and we were told that we would have to wait for them to be able to check us in. No problem. We waited patiently until the system came back up. As Ashley went over the type of room that we had booked, I asked her if there was a pull out sofa bed in the room, since we had a child with us, she said no. She said that if we wanted a room with a sofa bed, we would have to get an upgraded room for an additional charge. I told her that we had just come from another Hampton Inn in Portland, where we were able to get free upgrades being honors members. She basically said that she did not know that I was an honors member and they're too busy to accommodate my request, in a very snooty way. We paid for our upgraded room. We had questions about parking. I couldn't understand why we needed to pay $30 for parking when they had a section with an open lot. As we continued to ask her questions, we got the feeling that we were bothering her. She tried to keep it nice but we sensed the attitude. The parking garage is very mediocre. There are not a lot of parking spaces and those huge blue columns take up space, making it extremely difficult to park. A lot of the spaces were left open because no one wanted to park by those blue columns. As we entered our room, it was a very large, one bedroom apartment-like suite, with a full kitchen, and a balcony that had a partial city view. We were right by a busy road though, across from a gas station and a few other stores, so it was very noisy as vehicles were continuously going by all night. If you're a light sleeper, bring some ear plugs. The bed is also VERY uncomfortable and to me, does not live up to the Hilton status. As I laid in the bed, I sunk into a hole and had to force myself to get back out. I had to go sleep on the couch as I felt like I was sinking in and my back began to hurt, so I did not get a good night's sleep after paying so much money for this upgraded room. I could also hear every step that was being taken from upstairs and noises coming from the hallway. I would not come back to this hotel or recommend that anyone that I know, stay here because this is not luxurious and definitely not quiet. At first glance, it may seem okay, but when you take a deeper look, you'll see that there are quite a few imperfections and plenty of room for...
