We made this booking months in advance specifically for New Year’s. We booked 3 “Space Needle View” rooms (literally listed verbatim on their website) for ourselves and 2 other couples traveling into Seattle so that we could watch the fireworks and drone show on NYE.|They also advertised a “world class rooftop bar” to watch the show from…..in fact, they called to confirm reservation and told me that the view from the rooftop was “even better” than the view from our room.|When we arrived and checked into our room, we looked out the window and noticed that we could not see the Space Needle.|We immediately went back down to the lobby and the conversation went like this….|First, “oh,…well the reservation confirmation says that we cannot guarantee a space needle view room.”|I replied, “Yes, I understand that, this is why we specifically booked many months in advance.”|Second, “Well,…we don’t have king rooms with a view….would queen rooms work?” |I replied, “Sure, we dont care, that totally works and we will probably just go to the rooftop bar anyway.”|Third, “Well, our rooftop has no bar, its just open seating”|“Wait, you are telling me that its just a rooftop, there is no food or beverage service up there?”|“Thats correct….You can BYO food/beverage - there is a Safeway across the street.”|Wtf???? That is the “world class rooftop bar”they advertised?|Fourth, after about 5 minutes their manager came out and then explained “Well,….we dont actually have any rooms with a view of the space needle.”|Ummm,….you mean, you dont have any available, or you literally dont have any period?|We dont have any space needle view rooms in this hotel….||These accommodations were 100% ADVERTISED on their site and is 100% WHY we booked rooms at this hotel.|We were very lucky to have been able to call the ASTRA hotel and we got 3 space needle view rooms for a wonderful new years eve with our friends.|Had we not been able to get last minute rooms, our trip would have been a huge (and expensive) disappointment.|Shame on the Mediterranean Inn for knowingly and OBVIOUSLY doing a bait and switch.|After posting this review I am following up with the Better...
Read moreAfter a long and difficult travel day where we'd both been up for 17 hours, my 71-year old mother and I showed up at the hotel at 11:05pm on July 19, 2025, to check in. My mom was sick with a bad flu at the time. As we approached the counter to check in, the young Hispanic lady at the check-in desk was having a conversation with her coworker (young black guy) about how long she'd worked that day and how eager she was to leave - apparently she was about to clock out and have him take over. It took her a while for her to redirect her attention to us. When she did, she did so with a look of extreme annoyance, like we were a huge bother to her and we were simply an obstacle standing in the way of her getting to go home. Check-in process was normal. I asked for an extra pillow for my mom (she's coming off hip replacement surgery and has arthritis and tendonitis and needs lots of pillows to sleep), and the girl said she'd bring an extra pillow up to our room right away. 45 minutes later, at 11:50pm, we're both exhausted and well past ready to sleep, and no pillow. I go back down to reception, where the same guy is just standing around on his phone, alone, and I mention the pillow. The guy says, "Oh yeah, what room are you in again? I have to close up the roof and then I'll bring it to your room." Not even an apology. And at 11:50pm, after making us wait for 45 minutes, his priority at that moment should have been his exhausted guests who just wanted to go to sleep, not the roof. Frankly I was dumbfounded at this lack of common sense and misplaced priorities. Worried that I'd end up having to wait another half an hour or more, well past midnight, I said I'd just go with him. So I waited in the hallway outside our room for another 10-15 minutes while he closed up the roof and then finally got us the pillow I had asked for an hour earlier. Is this considered an acceptable level of service for a $400/night hotel? I've had better service at hotels a tenth that price. Unbelievable. Plus the place smelled old and musty, with a slight hint of mildew - long-overdue for some new carpet...
Read moreOur introduction to this hotel was the fantastic front desk team - super friendly, informative, collaborative team! The set the tone for my family and I making us feel welcome and informed (they took time to give us directions and answer questions about the area). We parked in the underground lot which has an oversized area that fit our truck.||The large lobby is lovely, with a coffee bar, couches, and close to bathrooms. If you don’t like their coffee bar, Starbucks is attached to the lobby area and is easily accessible. ||Our room was ideal for us. We are in a corner room with two double beds (perfect for families with big football sized teens like we have). The entrance area is comfortable with a small closet, and a vanity area with a mini fridge and coffee set-up. Being on the corner provided us with a large faux balcony window and two windows on each wall allowing us to see the intersection and fun night game vibe outside. It also included a sitting area with two chairs and a table, as well as a third chair over at the desk area. The bathroom is simple with a large shower and includes toiletries.||This is an older hotel but is updated and lovely. The rooms and hotel areas are clean, and as already mentioned, the staff are fantastic! Someone else commented that the elevators were slow but I didn’t find them bad. We did choose to walk the stairs when we returned from the game simply because it was super busy when we returned, and it was nice to see that the stairways were clean like the rest of the hotel. The location is ideal for anyone going to an event at Climate Pledge Arena as it is only a four minute easy walk away. There are lots of restaurants and amenities around the hotel. When in Seattle, I will use this...
