My husband and I had a taste for seafood with no restaurant in mind. Luckily, we landed at Captain Butcher's. I must say that every part of the experience was exemplary. First, the waiter Baldo, took our drink and appetizer order...he was obviously paying close attention because (in spite of the difficulties we had placing the order due our first-timer status) he got everything correct without having to write anything down. Starters came quickly...drinks were spot on (and kept refilled) and the calamari was tender, well-seasoned, and especially delightful due to the addition of fried spinach and the rich marinara sauce. Also, the portion was hearty enough that we (in spite of having large appetites) were able to split it and be full. After the starters, we stepped outside while waiting on the main courses and were greeted with live saxophone music and and ocean view...nice! Though we were outside, Baldo went out of his way to come get us so our food would not be cold when we ate it. We got back to the table where we found ample meals awaiting us. We were still full, but we had to try everything. My fried mahi sandwich was crispy and tasty. My husband's meal was even better! He got the Seafood Oscar. Everything was well-seasoned and tender yet toothsome...especially the scallops which cut like butter and melted in the mouth. We got ready to go after the fantastic meal, service, and ambiance (made even more special with the candle lit at my husband's request). Baldo had a to-go refill of tea for me and he bagged up the food for us also. Just gotta say...11/10 will go...
Read moreCame here to celebrate my birthday with a party of 8 of family and friends. Sat inside as this size party cannot be accommodated outside without be crunched. We brought cake, paper plates, plastic silverware to serve ourselves after dinner. Was told it would be a charge of $5 dollar per person for use to have the birthday cake here at the restaurant. Side note, Nothing is stated on the menu of this charge. Insane. Waitress who can't listen to orders told us they charge because of damage to carpet in the past. There is no carpeting inside. I spoke to the manager and asked him and explained I never heard of a charge like this. Have celebrated many birthdays at different places. Never been charges. Spoke to manager and said it's because of parties sitting an extra 45 minutes. Ok we waited 45 minutes after placing order for our food. He states you all had desserts to serve, well its a birthday and how we all were raised, birthday you get birthday cake not dessert. By the way, can I charge you a fee for waiting so long and only 2 tables inside? I totally understand you are here to make money. But don't be doing it this way. As regulars, you now have lost more money than the $40 that we did not pay. Can honestly say not smart business. Maybe $2 or $3 but dont be price gouging. Maybe get smiling servers instead of miserable...
Read moreWe visited for a late lunch 9.3.2022. We were seated outside immediately. Ordered Mojitos, which were watered down; had limes placed on the rim that were clearly past their time; and had more mint than was necessary. We ordered the dozen raw oyster, received them, one lemon wedge on the platter. Standard horseradish and cocktail sauce. It would be nice to see the chef think outside of the box and offer other sauces with the oysters. But that being said, the oysters were delicious. The fresh catch of the day was Red Snapper and Mahi-Mahi. While looking at the menu, under the salads; above the sandwich listings; and above the entrees, it says to ask your server about the fresh catch of the day (or something very similar). I asked for the Red Snapper sandwich, blackened, and was told that was an entree item fresh catch, and asked if I could have the Red Snapper on a salad, and was told it is only available on the fresh catch of the day for the entree (which is a dinner sized meal). We did not want dinner. If there are two fresh catch items being offered, then both items should be available for meals, not just the entree. We had the Mahi-Mahi on a salad, which was over-cooked for my taste, blackening seasoning was ok. Asked for Red onion on the salad and received 4 rings of sliced...
