First time eating here and it didn’t disappoint. We sat outside under the bar canopy facing the water. Great view and breeze, very relaxed for a Tuesday night. We started with a dozen Oyster Rockefeller. My wife and I split the raw bar combination platter. It was plenty of food for two people. Some of the best boiled shrimp I’ve had in a restaurant. They were plump and moist, not overcooked in the least, which so many restaurants can’t seem to get right. The raw oysters and ceviche were on point and the sushi poke bowl was absolutely fantastic. The only “meh” portion of the platter was the fish dip. The fish was smoked nicely, but it was on the dry side. Tasty but I like my fish dip more creamy than dry—- just a personal preference. We finished the meal off with a piece of the key lime pie. Well done!

I went here for my graduation dinner - the service was above & beyond! My whole family agreed Scott was the best waiter we have ever had - anywhere! The drink menu was excellent & fast. I recommend the basil martini (incredible, best martini I have ever had). The house wine was also great for the price - only $5! We had the tuna poke bowl & that was gone in seconds at our table! The food was fresh & mouth watering to say the least! Probably the best menu in the area with unique flavors as well. My whole family was pleased with this so I certainly recommend this restaurant for a crowd! We even had dinner & show with dolphins showing off in the sunset! Thanks for an awesome dinner. This restaurant is definitely a Sebastian gem!

This is a nice restaurant in Sebastian on the Indian River with inside and outside seating with a view of the water. It also has an inside and outside bar but the only negative thing about the outside bar is they allow smoking and if you are a non smoker you might not want to sit there. The food was great and average priced except for certain dinners which were a little high for no more than what you get with them. The menu was good with a wide selection and the service good also but I noticed the waitress had to hustle to keep up with the crowd. Will definitely go back and try them again.

Capt’n Butchers Seafood And Grill-Sebastian- 1-Star

"Surely, you can't be serious. I am serious...and don't call me Shirley." -- Airplane!

When the next place to show up on my random grub stop generator, I was intrigued, to say the least. As it was located down in Sebastian, I knew I would have a lovely cruise down the coast, but it was the name that got me. Most places of this type (like 99.90%), have the moniker Bar & Grill, this one was Grill & Bar. I assumed this meant they focused more on the grill part than the bar part and with that thought, I was looking forward to sampling their fire cooked fare.

Arriving at my destination, I entered the aforementioned establishment and was greeted and seated with courtesy by the front of the house staff. Going over the menu and glancing around per my modus operandi, I noticed a few things. First of all, I found the menu holding my interest as they had some rather delicious sounding items and the interior was soothingly minimalistic in design and was quite charming as well. I was soon approached by a pleasant enough waiter by the name of Phil. I asked Phil if all of the items were made in house and he assured me that they were. That would be great, for I found the menu, as previously stated, to read fantastically well. Phil was professional, charming, engaging and possessed in-depth knowledge of the menu. In short, Phil is the type of waiter one expects to find in a "fine" dining place, not a fish shack. Time will tell soon enough if the hash slung forth from the kitchen is equal to Phil's service.

To that end, I told Phil that I would like to try their Fish Tacos with a side of homemade coleslaw. As the place was fairly empty, I passed the time keeping up with the BBDO Face Book page and wondering why the place was so dead at lunchtime. Taking in the stupendous view, I surmised that I would discover that answer soon enough as Phil was seen returning with my lunch. As you can see by the pictures, the food looked appetizing enough. However, as I dug into the Fish Tacos I came across something I had heretofore not encountered in my dining experience...unidentifiable fish meat. We have all had "mystery" meat before, but "mystery" fish? This was new to me. As it was very unpleasant on the palate, I can only assume it was part of the fish including the bloodline. At least they could have served them on authentic corn tortillas to try to save the tacos from the horrendous fish, but no. My undetermined chunks o' fish were enclosed by flour tortillas. Traditionally speaking, Fish Tacos are to be served in fresh, warm corn tortillas (double wrapped). Using the flour kind not only makes them not the real deal, but it is also the cheaper way out.

Now, if you are an avid follower of the BBDO team (thank you if you are), then you know my affinity for good coleslaw. I"m Southern by birth and it's in my DNA, that's just how it works down here. Homemade coleslaw can be out of this world, or it can be like the slaw slung at Capt'n Butchers. While it was obviously made on site, I think the vinegar had started to ferment as it was no good on the palate. It had that "vinegar gone bad" taste. Which is a shame as I am sure with fresh vinegar it would have been fantastic as all the other ingredients were crisp, fresh and hand chopped.

To wrap things up Capt'n Butchers Seafood Grill & Bar offers picturesque views, excellent service and below average provisions. Phil needs to go someplace that serves food complimentary to his professional service.

The Big Boy says, "For great views and amazing service, this is the place. For good food, not so much." #iamthebigboy...

I like being able to sit by the water. Have been a few times...once had a waitress who was terrible. I phoned and spoke to the manager. He said toask for him next time..his name was Jimmy. He gave me a " coupon" for a free appetizer and was very apologetic. Next time I went there, I ordered an appetizer . I had a very good tip ready, but I was charged for the appetizer. I had not read the fine print ...free when you spend $20 !!! Nothing is free, right? I have had their calamari a few times and they were very good. So,on Wednesday I go again..nice seat by the water . Ordered the calamari...after a few bites.. they were awful..chewy, and very greasy. Called the waitress and she took them back. I ordered oysters instead. Oysters were very good. A manageress came and apologized and said the calamari would not be charged. She gave me one of the coupons ( now I have 2)!!! The bill came ..cost of the oysters on it... I signed. Gave the waitress a good tip in cash, as she was very pleasant and helpful. Checking my bank statement yesterday, discovered that I have been charged for both appetizers!! Called and was told to check after 3 business days and if it was not refunded, to contact them!!! Exasperating...a nice place, food usually pretty good, but I am getting tired of the hassles!! Hopefully, the manager will take note of...

Went for the first time after hearing so much from people i work with. This restaurant is just like the other two, Hiram's and Squid Lips, depending more on their location than food. I ordered the pasta dish scallops and shrimp, and wife ordered the islamora chicken dish. We ordered a dozen raw oysters up front and made sure to tell the bartender waitress the oysters were to be served up front. The oysters came with dinner and the waitress made a big deal of me sending them back and said she would graciasously take them off our bill. My pasta was cold and overdone and piled in the center of the plate with shrimp and scallops (4 each) surrounding it on the outside. The seafood does not come tossed in the dry pasta. My wife's dish came and looked like a fried chicken cutlet from Denny's with some cambells soup cream of mushroom soup on it. The menu said asparagus and it was served with green beens. For the above two dishes two glasses of zifendale and two ultras the bill came and it was 72 plus tip. Also the happy hour runs until 6PM and they are known for their happy hour food we arrived at 5:30 and were told we could have happy hour drinks but no food. Perhaps it was because we were seated at high top in the bar and not the actual bar, but as stated earlier the bartender served...
