Love the food. Service at the bar isn’t the greatest right now…. Bartender definitely needs some more experience or they need someone else back there for service bar…. I literally told the guy we had to be at a show, ASKED first about the amount of time etc & he really just did a below average job… I’ve worked for Chevys i know what is actually expected for secret shoppers etc; I’ve been in service for many years and i get that it’s busy etc but this was not the case. It takes a lot for me to even remark on someone specifically in a bar or restaurant & especially to go online and say it. I don’t want this location to close, i love it and i would hate for it to go, but they 150% need more training back behind the bar or there needs to be a second bartender. Currently it’s a huge difference from when i was coming in the past. So much so that i literally know now i can’t come in a rush… the drinks also are not tasting good or the way they should at all…. Chevys has amazing food & always has, that quality hadn’t gone down but the last visit yes it was not as good - but this was the person serving it… tortillas were brought cold and hard …. The bartender literally kept stopping in the middle of what he was to be doing etc; instead of getting our order in or anything he went over and started doing the service bar which no server came to for quite some time so that did anger me. The drinks ordered were pourable not having to be mixed so the fact that he asked us to hold on, then continued when i asked if we could be fast etc & then he didn’t care …. But i do & did. What we were then late for cost me over $100 … and we missed the beginning & it’s not like I can go back bc this was a live show …. I just think this location needs better training for the bar or another person as i was saying. While he is friendly, he is not keeping up with very basic slow bar work back there. I will go back but sit at a table, and that does make me sad bc i loved going to sit there at the bar, but as of now the service quality declined so much i just can’t… i hope it gets...
Read moreUpdated: Yesterday, at about 4pm, I asked for booth seating for the first time. Normally, I go to the bar area. The young man at the door quickly seated me, but everything was awful after that! The lady giving out the free chips and salsa just plopped them on my table and said "enjoy," never asking me if I'd like something to drink, which I witnessed her do for the white family that came in after me. Then, I sat and waited and waited and waited...now two additional families have been seated. About 10 minutes later, the waitress finally shows from the rear of the restaurant and takes the order of the family closest to her, never asking who was seated first. By now, my chips and salsa are gone and no one still has offered me anything to drink, nor a refill on the chips and salsa. Next, the waitress goes to the white family. It was like I was invisible, and I will assume that it was a coincidence that none of the other guests being served, nor doing the serving, were Black. I packed my things and left! I will have to say good-bye after service like that!
I love Chevy's at Arundel Mills! The food is always reasonably priced and good! However, today they only had one waitress/barista serving the indoor and outdoor bar area. After sitting for a minute watching her hustle to take orders from the tables, I asked her who was tending the bar. She replied, "me". Then, she immediately took my order, which was provided quickly. The Top Shelf Magarita was recommended (only $1 extra), so I ordered Watermelon with salt around the glass rim. I moved outdoors and enjoyed everything except an occasional fly. Salsa Chicken Taquitos with mango sauce is my favorite! Chips and spicy salsa are always complimentary. There should always be at least two people working the bar area,...
Read moreHaving frequented Chevy's, a Mexican restaurant located in Maryland, I can confidently say that it has its own charm and appeal. While it may not offer the most authentic Mexican cuisine, it does have some highlights that keep me coming back for more.
First and foremost, Chevy's is known for its delicious margaritas. I highly recommend trying their margarita with premium liquor, as it adds an extra touch of quality to the drink. However, if you're in the mood for a frozen margarita, do note that the premium option is not available. Regardless of your choice, their margaritas never disappoint and are perfect for unwinding with friends.
Furthermore, Chevy's offers a delightful house-made salsa that is simply mouthwatering. Its fresh flavors and perfect balance of spice make it a hit among diners. I often find myself wishing I could take a bottle of it home with me.
As for the food, while it may not reach the heights of authentic Mexican cuisine, Chevy's does offer tasty dishes. It's important to note that Maryland is not known for its abundance of authentic Mexican food, so Chevy's is often a go-to spot for satisfying cravings in the area. While it may not compare to the gastronomic delights found in Mexico, the food at Chevy's is still enjoyable.
Ultimately, I find myself drawn to Chevy's for its lively atmosphere, great margaritas, and the opportunity to enjoy dinner with friends. While the food may not be the main draw, the overall experience is worth the visit.
In conclusion, if you're looking for a place to indulge in flavorful margaritas, share some tasty food, and enjoy a social gathering with friends, Chevy's is a reliable choice in Maryland. Just don't expect an entirely authentic Mexican...
