Nawabi Hyderabad House is located on Lebanon Road in Sharonville, OH, primarily, an Andhra cuisine South Indian restaurant. It's actually where the old Curries Indian restaurant stood. There are different vegetarian dishes on their elaborate menu, apart from their wide variety of a-la carte selections. You would be surprised!
Hyderabad House also serves both non-vegetarian and even some seafood cuisines, apart from some limited chinese dishes. There are family platters, including seafood platters. The prices are comparatively a bit on the higher side, but served well with large portions! Pretty sure that the restaurant currently does not have buffet options. There is ample seating inside with dine in options, carryouts, order ahead and pickup options available. The checkout area is pretty narrow and congested. It could get really busy at times. The area could also use better lighting!
The place also offers some good snack selections, ice cream, kulfis, soft drinks, juices, hot beverages, pastries, tandoori dishes, aside from some real good authentic Andhra food. You get to try their Karampodi Chicken, lollipop chicken, Chicken pulav etc. Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, Naan, Kulcha and Chappathis are quite popular on the menu. Chicken Biriyanis are their most popular dish and Hyderabadi Biriyani is of course, famous!
I had the opportunity to visit Hyderabad House, the first time in October 2021 and have already been there couple of times in 2022. Ordered carryouts on all occasions. On each of my visits, I was helped at the Cash register by Ms. Mounica/Monica. She has always been great with the hospitality, being very polite, patient, friendly and courteous. There is always a bit of a wait, after you order since it seems they cook fresh from scratch. The food is always quite hot and adequate for multiple servings.
The things which I have noticed with the overall service:
Even after I made specifications and preferences about the mild or very low spice levels upon asking and even otherwise on three successive visits:
Ordered Vegetarian Samosas, once and even those were very spicy which got me indisposed.
Second time: Orders of Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Dum Biriyani-Very very spicy. Had to use the handy yogurt at home.
Third time could be or usually is a charm! No, and I was mistaken! Chicken Tikka Masala: This was even after providing my mild spice level preferences, multiple times during the time of order. Yogurt had to be used or mixed with the ordered food, yet another time! You would really feel a burning sensation in your stomach, if you consume the food without using enough yogurt.
The above experiences were disappointing for me. It clearly proved to me that the chefs had a real misunderstanding of the orders placed. It could also be a lack of coordination between the front desk and the kitchen. They might have been in a rush to make the deliveries possible or lack of focus. It would also result ultimately in not obtaining the expected results, quality or value after making such expensive purchases. I paid more than $40.00 on successive visits!
Once you place the order, you sit and wait away from the counter separately in a corner. There is no follow up! You just keep on waiting, see the dine in patrons being served and still wait for some more time until you get bored and walk to the cash counter. You get to collect your orders then, if it's ready. On my last visit, I noticed that my orders were already placed on the shelf and the lady at the front had to check for confirmation with the kitchen staff. This was very surprising and nobody had informed me until I made the enquiries! These things need to be readily improved. Time is of essence and there is value.
My total ratings above are solely based on the front desk assistance which I received. It does not particularly reflect the quality of the...
Read moreVery good and authentic recipes with complex flavors. You should probably read up on some of the dish names. They all represent different geographic Indian cuisine regions, and different spice combination, complexities, and sauce types. Even with some study I was still confused =^). Also ask whether some of the meat items are boneless vs bone-in. Many are bone-in, and not specified, but they can make it boneless! All that said, the food was super yummy, and truly unique. Not your typical Americanized Indian. We had 12 people there and ALL the different dishes were super good, complex flavors, all super unique. To a certain extent, all 12 of us kind of guessed what we wanted when we ordered. All 12 of us were very happy with the orders. You almost cant go wrong. Biryani also more unique than the Americanized versions, and big portions. Such an authentic pleasant change. They kind of spoiled me to the typical Indian food we usually get. Super wonderful and patient waitress who had to deal with all our lame American questions as best she could. Also note, there is something unique about this franchise on tipping. Tips on credit cards go to franchise and don’t make it back to the hard working wait staff! Its preferred if you tip in cash so it goes direct to the wait staff (who did a great job and were super attentive). We will definitely be going back. I want to try everything. Reminder - Its BYOB...
Read moreI usually order from this restaurant via grubhub and clearly mention that I want mild spice. I even called once ahead of placing the order that I want mild spice with Egg Kothu Barotta and if thats possible. The guy over the phone confirmed that the spice would be mild. But when I received my order, it was tongue burning hot and had whole res chillis everywhere. I called back immediately and they said thats the least spice they could make to keep up with the "hyderabad style" of cooking. If they went any less spice than that, it will affect their "brand name". I have never heard anything more ridiculous than this. I am paying for my food and I dont want it spicy. How hard can it be to accomodate this request? Why couldnt you say over the phone that you are unable to make mild food before I placed the order? The chef is very headstrong. The owner should do themselves a favor and change the chef to save some business. The basic customer service you can provide is to care for the customers as humans. Not everybody can eat spicy food. When ordering in group, request to have some dishes made mild than others is a common request. I understand there are dishes that are made in bulk and cant be made with a different spice level. But dishes that are cooked on demand basis, can be made with less spice. Infact this will increase the popularity of your restaurant and welcome...
