āAll You Can Eat? More Like āAll You Can Regret.āā
As an avid fan of revolving sushi restaurants, I went to Sakura hoping to discover a new favorite spotābut left deeply disappointed.
Sakura offers two options: an all-you-can-eat deal or pay-by-plate. If youāre aiming to enjoy a variety of quality sushi, I strongly advise choosing pay-by-plate. The all-you-can-eat menu is extremely limited, both in the selections available on the conveyor belt and in what you can order from the menu. Strangely, even basic items like tuna are excluded from the all-you-can-eat option, requiring an additional charge.
Sadly, the quality of the food was poor across the board. Much of the sushi seemed as though it had been sitting out far too long. Ingredients were dry, the egg sushi and rice lacked moisture and freshness, and the seaweed smelled off, likely from excessive exposure to air.
Our hand roll order was especially disappointingāit looked nothing like the picture on the menu and was almost unrecognizable. We considered sending it back but ultimately chose not to. Surprisingly, the miso soup and dumplings were the most palatable items we tried, which says a lot considering sushi should be the star at a revolving sushi place.
Another major letdown was the near-empty conveyor belt, forcing us to wait for long stretches just to grab a plate. Even the udon, usually a reliable comfort food, was far too salty.
Service and atmosphere were merely averageāneither enough to redeem the food nor to make the experience memorable.
Having been to countless revolving sushi restaurants, Sakura has firmly landed on my personal ādo not returnā list. While I canāt speak definitively about the pay-by-plate offerings, I cannot recommend the all-you-can-eat option at all.
If youāre looking for quality revolving sushi, I suggest heading to Kawa instead. Although Kawa was rough when it first opened, it has improved tremendously over time and consistently delivers a far better experience than what Sakura offered on my visit.
In short, skip the all-you-can-eat at Sakura if you value good sushiāor a good dining...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is really good sushi, you can eat as much as you want, the prices are VERY reasonable and they have good variety and fresh pieces regardless of when you come in and how busy it is. I will be celebrating my birthday dinner here, introducing my friends to this place, and as long as Sakura is around I will be cheering them on! The quality of food and the variety of dishes is truly unmatched. I normally don't eat a lot of sashimi because the price is normally high for the amount that you get. It's nice to get sashimi here because it's very reasonable, even if you aren't doing all you can eat, compared to the other sushi restaurants in the area. My first time here I had ordered a bowl of udon and the noodles were too heavy, so I asked the waitress if it was okay to leave it unfinished (they, like many buffets of a similar style, can charge you for over ordering). She reassured me that it was completely fine because even though I hadn't eaten much it was only the one dish, she was very kind and attentive. This lack of judgement and frustration is great because it enabled me to try new things without being afraid of what will happen if I don't like them; the rule is only in place for people who severely misuse the system. The little train that brings you some of your direct orders is really cute, I love watching it chug along the tracks and I imagine that makes it really fun for kids. They offer things like miso soup and fried rice along with sushi, which also makes it great for someone who has to go for picky eaters. My one "complaint" is that as someone who likes to take myself out; I would love to try the mango cake dessert, but feel bad about taking a plate with 3 slices when I know I'll only eat one. I'd love to see them add some single slices of mango cake for single diners in the future. I understand they do this because people paying by the plate want to get their money's worth, but I feel like that could be fixed by just having a little sticker that says "unlimited only"...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreExcellent service and a really nice atmosphere. Our drinks were always full and servers came to the table frequently to clear plates. The restaurant was very clean. All you can eat (AYCE) was $26 for adults, which I think is their price regardless of time of day or day of the week. Everything on the conveyor belt is included as is everything in the dessert area (6 flavors of ice cream!). You can order hot food from a limited selection on the tablets at the tables. I really appreciated how often they had ginger and wasabi placed on the conveyor belt. The conveyor belt was pretty full the whole time we were there.
The sushi included in AYCE, however, was nothing to write home about. Since we arrived before dinner the selection was probably a bit limited, though they had plenty of each item. The most basic rolls - like just cucumber and just tuna - were not on the conveyor belt and not included in the AYCE. The smoked salmon nigiri only tasted like smoke and the pepper tuna slices only tasted like pepper. Nothing tasted bad, just nothing tasted especially good either.
If you want a lot of sushi in a nice setting, I recommend this restaurant. If you are picky about what sushi you eat, you may want to order single plates or off the regular menu to get your...
