I feel obligated to warn any potential customers from having the same rude attitude, poor service and high prices at You Make Me Bloom, located on Market St. in Shelby My hubby and grandson attempted to eat there this week during lunch. The place was deserted when we got there. We ordered at the cash register, paid, and tipped in advance and were told to have a seat and our order would be out shortly. We each ordered a different crepe and asked for three glasses of water. I specifically asked that the water be served before the meal as I had to take medication. Well, we waited, and waited, and waited. No one entered the restaurant. Still no water. I went to the counter and politely asked again for the water. We waited. And waited. I again asked for the water and was told it was on its way. Still no other customers. About 45 minutes into our wait (still no food or water) a group of twenty something girls came in and sat down. The girl behind the register walked to their table and explained the need to order at the cash register and I again asked server AGAIN for water as she passed our table. Finally our crepes arrived. We still had no water and our grandsonās order was wrong. He is allergic to strawberries. His food contained strawberries. My husband ordered strawberries, but he got bananas. He HATES bananas. The server argued with us, saying this was what we ordered. I know better than to endanger my grandson with something he is allergic to so I am always careful to mention his allergy. Hubby has hated bananas all of his life. This is not a mistake he would have made. Instead of offering to remake our food, the server insisted we were at fault and left to get a different employee who claimed to have watched the CCTV footage of us ordering and that it proved we were wrong. Pretty sure no one can find and watch footage that quickly. The second employee arrived at our table seconds after the server went to get her. They finally grudgingly offered to remake our food but considering it took over an hour to serve us the first time we declined when we were told we would need to wait until the large group of girls got their food. After all of this we STILL didnāt get water. No mention of refunding our money or our tip that we had to give before we were ever served. We paid $ for three crepes which only one of us could eat. My crepe was good but not worth spending an hour waiting for. We would have got up and left except we had already paid and this was a special treat for our young grandson. To add insult to injury, when the server finally brought our water, she slammed down the glasses so hard they spilled over. I was afraid to drink it because at that point she made it pretty clear she didnāt respect us as customers. When I complained to the other employee/manager the server said the glasses āslipped out of her hands because they were wet.ā All three of them? She set each one down individually. Even if they did slip (I donāt believe this for a minute) a normal person would apologize and bring napkins to soak up the water. I really wanted to like this place but the terrible service, total disrespect for customerās time, and blatant āour employees are always right/never make mistakesā culture, make this impossible. The first time I dined there, I waited 40 minutes for food but chalked it up to the fact that there were only 2 employees. I thought perhaps someone called in sick etc. Unfortunately on my second (and LAST EVER) visit, the same two employees were there. Clearly, they need to schedule more people to work if they want to stay in business. Waiting an hour for the WRONG food is not possible in most peopleās schedules. Then again, it probably wouldnāt matter how many people they have working because with a manager and employees who are rude, lazy and unapologetic this place will NEVER succeed no matter how good...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am sorry to give this bad review but it's for the benefit of the store and future customers. The idea or concept of this place is fine, it has potential... the staff (or business owners?) are friendly, and place is clean and well decorated. The coffees and teas are normal, nothing surprising or extravagant, kind of expensive... But what made me give 1 star was the wait time it took for preparing only 2 simple coffees. It's unacceptable! The place was NOT crowded, there were only a couple of people in front of us and it took around 25 to 30 min to receive our order, and the worse of all it was wrong; I asked for a cold drink and I received it hot. But because it tool so long I didn't want to ask for a change, probably I would have waited for another 30min. I felt sorry for other customers that arrived after me and the cashier/server was hidden back in the kitchen, in her cell phone, not attending them. It easily took like 10min for her to come back to the front counter and take their order. Then, she went back again and left the counter un attended. I guess if the place gets crowded, the wait time could take hours! Customers, be mentally prepared! Not worth to pay $7 for a coffee, and had to wait for so long and bad experience... Also some products from the menu were not available.
I hope the owner reads this review. My recommendation to the owner is to immediately improve the preparation time of orders, add a physical menu in the store, make sure you have all the products from the menu available, have at least one server in the front counter all the time, and hire and train new personnel, otherwise the business will not be sustainable for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI would first like to note that I work at a restaurant and I know how things operate. It took about 40-50 mins for my coffee and grilled cheese sandwich to come out, mind you there are only me and two other people at the store. the soup is very mid- tastes like they added water to the soup to make more of it. The grilled cheese sandwich came out cold and the chips added to it were very stale and from the bottom of the bag- literally its the end pieces. It's edible but still not up to my standards for about $25. I also ordered the iced cookie butter chai coffee and it's alright but the whipped cream topping had an off flavor to it, I don't know if it's old or they had a flavoring to it. I recommend hitting another place nearby instead like Lulas or somewhere else because ??
Honestly, food is edible but would I come back again? no, because it's not worth the time and the effort put into the food. Service is good just the basic hi thank you would you like anything else etc. The decor is whatever to me- personally it's just all pink and has a Valentine's Day theme Christmas tree, but it does look very messy.
I also have seen how the owner responds to the other reviews, which to me is VERY unprofessional!!! please learn how to build up customers and please be respectful- not so hasty with them. you need to learn a thing or two before doing any of these things.
I wished it was better, I had such high hopes to have a local coffee place that's very cute and yummy but I guess not. ( also check out Yelp for any violations...
