I honestly feel like most people just look for the bad & if they can't find it bad enough, they'll somehow manage to find a way due to being extremely comfortable w/it. With that being said, I, on the other hand, typically will go out of my way to present exceptional or even sub-par, standard acts of service. And by all means, the following review aligns with the prior statement; however, this is one of the few in between exceptional ones all thanks to the manager on duty and his team working that evening. I understand why John Buxton was made the Hospitality Marketing Manager bc he truly lives up to his position. Long story shorter, I came in 20 mins prior to closing after a ridiculously long day of running errands all around the city, to order a few of my favorite dishes. I honestly dine at Pei Wei at least once a week & most times I am always pleased due to the company's strict policy on food consistency throughout all their locations I've dined at thus far. So I was rlly looking forward to just being fed a delicious, affordable meal after a long day. I ordered the Trad Chicken Lettuce Wraps and Viet Rice Noodle Salad, but was informed that they had ran out of prepped shitake mushrooms. I am a cook myself & have years of experience in the restaurant industry, so I completely understood. Once my food was ready, I had decided to get it to go due nearing closing hours. But Mr. Buxton insisted that it was completely fine for me to dine inside. I thanked him a million due to the fact that I had a long drive back home to downtown Houston & desperately tried making time to eat dinner at PW. While I sat down to eat my meal, he came over and told me that he had to personally soak some shitake mushrooms in hot water to reconstitute them to add to my lettuce wraps instead of the white mushrooms he originally said he wld be able to substitute them for. I guess he noticed the somewhat disheartening look that overcame my face when I told him how much I loved those inside that particular dish. So instead of focusing on closing duties like a lot of mgrs wld of done, he chose to focus on me, the customer, instead. Both dishes were cooked beyond perfect, so kudos to the cooks! We got to conversating and I had learned that his home had gotten flooded out and shared w/him how I had lost mine to 3 feet of water during last year's Memorial Day wknd floods. So I know firsthand the devestation one has to encounter from losing one's home, yet he managed to go into work and completely give his ALL & even left me with a few complimentary menu items to redeem for future usage. He most certainly helped to make the end of my day comfortable all due to his generosity, gracious hospitality and most excellent service-oriented attitude. I was extremely appreciative and I feel like employees as such should always be lifted up when they go above and beyond the call of duty. I obviously travel there for the fresh asian cuisine, but due to the customer service & improvements along the way, I return time and time again ever since I first tried Pei Wei back in...
Read moreI use to frequently visit this place for lunch almost once a week here and there with various co-workers. And normally this place is always on their game and with friendly service. Today was not one of those days unfortunately, they were busy like usual at lunch time which is normal for them. When we arrived to the register and the young lady took our order she told us that their soda machines were down and only had tea which we didn't really mind we just wanted water. As we made our way to the beverage area people were complaining that there wasn't even water, we didn't mind we just got whatever was available. I didn't drink anything, finally the guy server came and handed us our food and I told him my order was wrong be cause I ordered my food with extra scallions and it didn't have any. This guy has seen us many times and I understand they were busy. He ignored what I told him at first, then I told him again and his reply was "what do you want me to do about it?" (In Spanish) I asked him, can you fix it? Then he had this disgusted look on his face. He then asked, do you want me to bring some on a plate with sauce?" I said sure, that would be just fine. He left and never came back. All the while the table next to us had a couple of orders that were incorrect and he made sure he fixed theirs. It's the principle of the situation and he could have at least apologized for what happened, even if he would have apologized in the beginning and acknowledge the problem, it would...
Read moreRice was hard & undercooked. Told them, only offered another bowl of a little better🙄 undercooked rice!! Would probably been good & enjoyable otherwise.. Quite Disappointed☹️
More Info:. I had ordered the Mongolian chicken with fried rice. My sister with me..had ordered shrimp fried rice using brown rice... She said her rice was fine and then tasted mine. She agreed it was hard and undercooked... (she was treating me for my birthday).. so the brown rice was cooked correctly and the fried rice was undercooked and hard. After I complained, within say 3-4 minutes I was brought a bowl (microwaved, I gathered.. since it was around 3:30 in the afternoon) of reheated fried rice... Only a little better on top than what I had received before.. my sister wanted me to order a fresh batch of all of it, but I didn't want to make a fuss... I really should have though because it ended up going to waste and I obviously didn't get to enjoy my birthday meal 😞... She was disappointed as well. The girl who took our order let us know she knew that they knew this rice was undercooked and really did nothing about. I really should have been offered a new meal.. A real Shame... Always had been very good when we went before.. hence... where she took me for my...
