Was staying at the Days Inn and noticed this cool looking little family style Mexican restaurant with a lot of cars the evening in the adjoining parking lot, so I decided to grab lunch for to go the next day. Ordering over the phone with super fast and efficient and myself being an engineer I appreciate that she told me it'll be ready in 12 minutes LOL, not 10 minutes or 15 minutes haha. They have a precise operation going there!
When I walked in somebody greeted me and asked how many and I said I had to go order and she pointed at a table where there was a to-go order sitting. Okay cool I'll walk over and grab it myself and then walk back up to the front to pay the bill. As I went to pay the bill, the 13 something dollar lunch was $17 something and I was told that was because the sour cream I requested was $1.50. okay whatever. The lady cashing me out was super friendly and telling me thank you for my business and all this and she gave me the receipt to sign they have a tip line and I put zero because I'm picking up an order and she made sure to stare the whole time and inspect that I didn't put down a tip and then the fake smile went away and I got the immediate cold shoulder. Always laugh about people who think tips are somehow required for no service. Even though the attitude was subtle it was quite obvious and annoying. I get my lunch back over to the hotel and as you can see in the picture there's about 20 cents worth of sour cream. For a $1.50 that little tiny container should have been filled up!
So to start things out, I wasn't actually impressed at all I was kind of irritated by that attitude when paying the bill with the fake smiles and fake happiness and then cold shoulder because you don't put on a tip.
So why are the five stars? Omg! I eat Mexican food everywhere on this planet and I have just discovered virtual heaven! That was literally some of the tastiest salsas, tenderest skirt steak, perfect guacamole. Truly outstanding taste-wise and quality wise! I'll be back for more take away, and if I ever have time might check out the bar, but when I sign my receipt for take away, I'm going to put extra large zeros on the tip section until the cashier can give a genuine greeting without the irritating innuendo for tips on to go orders.
Almost forgot to mention the charro beans which were super excellent as well with bits of pork fat and bacon... might of even been steak bits in there, I'm not sure, but it was a hearty soup! I stuffed myself at lunch because it was so good and still had a nice size snack left over for later. So what seemed expensive for a lunch special at first was a good value and with the quality and taste I would say I'm going to be stopping by every time I'm in the area.
Genuinely recommend the food here to the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUpdate: The house margarita was missing the tequila. I told my server it was missing the tequila and he brought another one. However, they charged me for an additional margarita, an extra $12 plus tax and tip.
I told the server I didnāt order an extra margarita. He brought over the manager, who has been less than courteous on previous visits.
The manager proceeded to gripe me out over the drink and imply that house margaritas donāt have the tequila that regular ones do. I told her I would like to pay for our food but not the extra margarita. She was very rude yet still said not to pay for anything and that I was never welcome to return to the restaurant again.
Thankfully we had enough cash to pay for the food and tip of what we ordered since the manager refused to bring a correct bill.
They do add some msg or other chemicals to the food because it makes me very lethargic for about 3 hours after I eat here every time. I do not experience this lethargy after eating at other restaurants.
On a previous visit, this manager told me she was related to the owner. Today she claimed she was the owner.
Furthermore, when one walks into the restaurant, one is overwhelmed by the artificial air freshener.
Nevertheless, the stuffed beef avocado has been on point every time and the beans a La charra are exceptional. The Gordita is still very good but not nearly as good as it used to be.
All in all, the red sauce is mediocre, the green salsa is above average. I would say if you go here, donāt bother ordering any alcohol. Iāve also ordered the 1800 margarita and it did not have the ingredients the menu claimed.
The enchiladas and tacos are underwhelming.
It certainly seems this āmanagerā is trying to put them out of business.
Additionally, the AC system has been broken for several weeks in the Texas heat. I even referred a great AC company to them several weeks ago yet today the AC was still...

A friend and I ordered this dish! It says Shish-ka- Bob with chicken and 4 shrimp! So we thought we would get 4 shrimp by the way it was worded on the menu! It came out with with the four shrimp but only after my friend said we would pay for the extra shrimp! When her daughter ordered this last week she only go 3 shrimp! So today I looked at the menu and it say chicken and four shrimp! We approach them about it and they still said only 3 shrimp! Now keep in mind we eat here a lot! They know us real well! They gave us 4 shrimp but charged us for the 4th one! They charged us 2.50 for one shrimp when it was clear in the menu it says chicken and 4 shrimp ! I am very disappointed in this restaurant now! I may not go back because I feel like when we pointed out chicken and 4 shrimp they would give us back the 2.50! No they didnāt offer to refund us! We go there a lot because my friends daughter is in a wheel chair and the restaurant is close to our houses! She does not own a handicapped van! They need to change the wording in their menu! Other than that the food is good. We go there about 3 times a week but sometimes we just get Margaritas and donāt eat! Beware watch the wording...
