Cellarman's Pub & Brewery — Restaurant in Sherman

READ CAREFULLY... First time customer, have driven by location on numerous occasions, saw full parking lot but never stopped. As a first time customer, was not aware that this was a "seat yourself" establishment, so kind of felt like an idiot for standing at entry and not having a server or bartender acknowledge us, especially when they passed us no less than a half-dozen times before we sat ourselves. Our server was polite and cordial, not overly energetic, but definitely positive. In watching server staff interact with customers, it was clear that the "known customer crowd" received better attention and service that the unknown (or not regulars), that was really disappointing to see. I have always enjoyed local brew pubs, so having not been here before, I inquired about their local made beer and was disappointed to receive very limited feedback and/or encouragement. My son and I chose the "ESB" which turned out to be an incredible choice, probably in my top five in over twenty years! My son ordered the mushroom/swiss burger and I ordered the gyros - both plates were OUTSTANDING. My gyro meat was great, hot, fresh pita, vegetables were seriously still crisp and ice-cold, making our lunch very tasty. We both had the onion rings and found them to be crisp, hot, and not greasy - very impressed. Now here is where we got frustrated and why I gave low overall mark. This review would have been 5 stars HOWEVER the rating is low in response to the price of their beer. Keep in mind, there is no doubt, this brew pub is making money, but there prices for a 64 ounce growler was $22 for beer $18 for root-beer and NO OPTION for purchasing bottled beer. I purchased without checking prices, and that is on me. This establishment could truly make more profit and sell more product by lowering those prices and considering a bottled option, especially given their location and limited competition. Cooked to perfection with a juicy half pound patty and well-balanced flavors, it's a must-try for burger enthusiasts. The fried chicken also impressed with its crispy exterior and tender meat, confirming the chef's prowess in classic American dishes.

However, the dining experience was marred by inconsistent service. Despite ordering cheese sticks and pretzels with beer cheese, they never made it to our table initially. Our waitress seemed overwhelmed and was difficult to flag down for assistance even with a small attendance as seen in the photos. When the appetizers finally arrived, they were disappointingly cold, suggesting a delay in preparation.

The beer selection, brewed on-site, was a redeeming quality. Each pint was expertly crafted, offering a variety of flavors that complemented the meal perfectly. It's regrettable that I had only one, as the waitress neglected to inquire if I wanted another, reflecting a lack of attentiveness throughout our meal.

Overall, Cellarman's Pub and Brewery offers enjoyable food and excellent beer in a relaxed atmosphere. Yet, the dining experience was hindered by subpar service, which detracted from what could have been a more satisfying visit. A great and fun place to go for lunch or dinner or even to just have some drinks with friends. It's a smaller building but the atmosphere is SO lively all the time! They have great food and lots to choose from like pizza, or oysters and burgers and a nice variety of great tasting food to choose from . They have a ton of drinks and beer to choose from, and have also just recently built and added on a brewery to the back of the building to brew their own special great tasting brand of beer, I believe!!! If not their own brand, then their going to make someone elses nice cold beer! Lol! It's just always a good time there and there's never a shortage of great people or laughing and having a fun, laid back, happy time at Cellermans. You can take ur family their for lunch or dinner during the day and come back later that night and hang out with ur buddies and drink some cold beer or specially made mixed drinks and have a great time!! If u have never been there u should definitely try it out, u won't regret it! U too, will soon become a Cellermans regular lol and the guys and girls that work there are so nice and friendly and are great at their jobs and do their best to make sure ur happy with ur food or drinks and want u to have a great time while ur there.
