Maciano's Pizza & Pastaria — Restaurant in Shorewood

The managers, Rob & Mike, make everything right if there's any problems. We go nearly 30 minutes on heavy traffic days to get their meat sauce baked lasagna. Only issue with the baked lasagna is it's usually very mildly more watery/ oilier than it should be. The flavor usually makes up for it however.

We dined in yesterday and you could actually see the oils in the sauce, from what I can only assume is the beef drippings not being fully drained out, before putting beef in the pasta. At first I thought it was fat from the cheese, but it's solely in the sauce and the cheese was not oily. It was still VERY flavorful lasagna!

It's usually enough for 2 average sized eaters, but we ordered 2 meals to have plenty of left overs for dinner today or lunch tomorrow. And it's always better to dine in than to do take out. But their meat sauce is so very good.(even when very mildly watery/oily which is only rare) Their baked mostaccoli is also worth the drive. They recently changed their tiramisu I believe and it's way less cake like and more cheese; like it should be. I would give 4.5 stars, but had to choose between the 4 and the 5. It's NOT QUITE a perfect 5, But CLOSE. Mainly because there's NO table service until 3pm. This was a big one for me because I am very obviously disabled if you see me! We weren't sure if we were to tip for the cashier to bring the food out, then to simply point to where the silverware was when we asked for something to eat with. Jokingly made a cup to mouth drinking gesture only to get pointed towards the pop machine. My fiance & I had to do everything for ourselves for a fine in place. Fiance got our silverware for both of us, filled drinks for us both, refill drinks for us both. Only saying we weren't sure if tipping was appropriate. He didn't mind, but NO table service usually means no tipping. Huge improvement all around though otherwise! Happy...

We've ordered pizza from here before, so we thought we'd dining in at the location. It was pretty packed on a Friday night, but we were able to get a table without issue while people in the seating area waited patiently for their to-orders as delivery calls came in constantly. After a few moments, our server arrived, and after taking our orders, delivered our side salads within five minutes. The lettuce was crisp, cherry tomatoes fresh and flavorful. Our entrees came out about ten minutes later. Kudos to the team for their portion sizes. I'm not sure, because of plate sizes, but I felt I received more pasta here than when I ordered delivery, so if you're in the mood, order the Chicken Parmesan at the restaurant if you like a decent portion size with a serviceable marinara. The chicken was okay, not particularly thick and the breading was fine. I've had better, but given Maciano's focus is pizza, the quality was what I would have expected. That being said, we were pleased with the service. Nicole was very attentive, checking in with us about five minutes after we received our entrees (which is perfect, since it gives us time to appreciate our food), and then about ten minutes after that to check for refills. Each time she stopped by she was friendly and accommodating. Providing us with a fresh cup of warm marinara for our "doggie bag" was a nice touch. Considering they're able to provide very decent service in the restaurant while keeping on top of to go orders is very nice sign for a business (especially since at the time of this review, there were about 25 delivery orders waiting to be processed in the window in addition to the 10 or so tables that were being taken care of at the time). It was super busy so my review isn’t because of anything other than maybe a retraining for front staff- everyone was extremely nice and the food was AMAZING AS ALWAYS!! I ordered online I was a few minutes early - she told me it would be a few minutes so I waited. 10 min passed the girl that asked for my name and order was on the phone and then went to the back and I saw her put a pizza box in the warmer I waited another five to six min I’ve now been there 19 min. Again super busy understandable. The gentlemen behind me who came in last asked about his food and it still wasn’t done. And all the girl in front could say is sorry about that. It hit me how long I’ve been waiting and that many people after me left already so asked the boy upfront to see about my order and the girl took out the box from the Warner that was put in there 12 min earlier. I was only upset because if the front staff other than the young lady that took my name knew I was waiting I would not have waited so long. Not really a complaint just maybe make staff aware !
