Pepe's Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Shorewood

I’m not 1 to leave a negative review but this here is outrageous!! I come in to order an order for work (I work with clients with disabilities), 20 tacos, rice, beans and guacamole. The place has a distinct smell. I couldn’t quite pinpoint it but it was something! I submit my order, the food comes out in a decent time. I take the food back to work, to feed my clients. Each taco is wrapped individually, EACH TACO is covered in grease/oil!!!! I had no choice but to feed my clients because it was passed their dinner time. 5 out of 6 of my clients ate it. The other 1 wouldn’t touch it at all!!! On top of that, the chips to the guacamole was stale! I called the restaurant to speak with the manager. I was told she was too busy with tables (no one was there when I placed my order) but I was speaking with the assistant & could help me. I told him my problem, he relayed the message to the manager (I heard her speaking in the background). The manager said bring the food back & could get a refund or call corporate! I explained my work situation with my clients & I was told there was nothing they could do about it. So I came back to return the guacamole (that I purchased for myself) because the chips were BEYOND stale! She refunded me for the guacamole & told me to call corporate about the tacos. I asked for the number, the manager said she didn’t know it, I had to look online & walked off while I was still at the counter! No apology, no remorse or anything! I’m so hurt & upset about my clients. I can take it if it was myself but my clients are different abilities & to know this is what happen to them is...

Ugh not like back in the day Pepe's. I always get the Beef Enchilada Suiza dinner. BITDay- enchilada full of beef a nice rounded enchilada. NOW -flat as a pancake. BITday-A good size of refried beans. NOW- A plop of refried beans thinned out, they certainly were not thick and took up a 1/3 of the plate. BITday- fluffy tasty Spanish rice with chopped onion and tomatoes. NOW - deep red rice no flavor. BITday- use to get at least a 1/2 cup shredded lettuce with a slice of tomato, a tortilla chip with a spoonful of sour cream and guacamole and even an orange slice on the plate. NOW- no little salad. I asked if they had mexican carrots yes we do. We received a little bowl of jalepeno peppers with I'm not lying 4 pieces of carrots and they were no bigger than a dime. Requested more and got 6 dime sizes and a quarter size. My husband ordered just a steak burrito. We have never ever had a burrito with green peppers???? Asked for cheese and cilantro to be added. Can't believe this place is still open. It's an embarrassment to the franchise if there is a company headquarters anymore? Might be a hole in the wall office somewhere. This is the first and last time ever going to this restaurant. Server was no better...UGH Stay away from this hole...

Called in my order was told over the phone 2)10 taco specials my total was giving to to over the phone for $58 and some change got there 15 minutes later was told the total was $60.12 I asked was it a card charge because that's more then what I was told over the phone he said never telling me how much the charge was, by this time me and my family is hungry so I said whatever paid and left get get home 45 minutes later to find out my entire order is wrong I ordered 20 tacos 3 without cheese 5 without tomatoes and 12 with cheese,lettuce & tomatoes, but what I received was 12 no cheese and 2 with no tomatoes and 6 tacos cheese and lettuce when I called Pepes in Shorewood illinois about the order being wrong I was told to drive 45 minutes back to the store or contact corporate office they can deal with it. Why should I have to drive all the way for your store messing up my order that I paid for he hung on me when I called back he said I told you what u can do Hung up again I would never in my life eat or recommend this pepes to eat in or takeout yall can have the $60.12 I paid yall for terrible food horrible customer ...
