Monica's Cafe — Restaurant in Show Low

I will say, Never again!

Really wanted to like this place, based on reviews, thought we would.

Service... horrible, a good 10 minutes for someone to take our drink order, typically when you are seated they will take your drink order. Eventually when food was brought out (by someone other than our server) there was no toast. Eggs were lukewarm and had the consistencyof powdered eggs (we could have gotten at hotel for free), so they'd been sitting for a bit. When I was approximately half way through my meal, the original server came to check to see if everything was ok, i said we didn't get our toast and eventually she brought me a slice of toast. 1 slice of toast. Who does this? Is this a thing to get 1 slice? It's a first for me.

Potatoes that previous reviewers raved about with onions and peppers, had neither, they were frozen Ore-Ida style diced Potatoes, they did however have syrup on/in them which was not really the bonus you would think it'd be. We are not sure if the meal was plated on a dirty plate that had syrup on it, or if it was poured on before the "frozen" potatoes were placed on the plate, either way it was rather nasty.

After eventually getting our check and paying immediately before she left the table, she said she'd be back with change, literally 15-20 minutes later, our server came back to check to see how we were doing.... well, not good as I was still waiting for my change. Had it not been nearly half of the bill, I would have just walked and left it.

We visit Showlow quite a bit and have our favorite "go to" spots, and always like to find new ones, this one sadly will not be...

I hate leaving bad reviews, but I feel like I have to. The hostess was absolutely wonderful and I want to give her props for running the lobby, younger person with facial piercings. They were the one who helped with our complaints since our waitress was ignoring us. We waited about 5 minutes to be seated which isn’t terrible, but after that it took about 30 minutes to get our food. The food was stone cold and mediocre at best. I would’ve loved to talk to the waitress about it but she was too busy walking past us (multiple times) to talk to regulars. She came across as very standoffish when taking our order as well. One of the bussers was eating in the dining room while standing next to the dirty dishes. After being walked past 3 times I got up and talked to the hostess and told her about our food being cold. She called the manager (owner?) over to talk with us, she was not friendly at all. They asked if we wanted our food remade and we said no, we had waited too long. I will say I am grateful we were...
