This is a HEALTH AND SAFETY review, not a food review. UNSAFE HAND CLEANING!
This biz APPARENTLY ISN'T in charge of the bathrooms of this building. I knew who managed this before: the outlets, and it was always pristine. I know the issues with having excess guests that cause excess wear. That does not affect how they know and manage basic standards of health and human safety.
They don't keep the soap pumps in working order and must resort to external devices. I came into the restrooms to only find hand sanitizer. 70% at that...when 90% is needed for viruses and non are rated for fecal matter. (Only 20 seconds of soap scrubbing works with this. When establishments offer hand sanitizer in bathrooms, they are enticing a time saving human to use it over soap. It is not recommeded in bathrooms. Let alone as the only option- that is against health and human safety standards.)
I complained to Chipotle and they had an attititude and dismissed me to Which Wich: the managers of the restrooms. I said- their staff used that bathroom and they should care more and let their leads know to put pressure on Which Wich to do a proper job. They dismissed me more, did not take action, and showed they didn't care. I confirmed their staff used those bathrooms and pointed that their staff could spread germs without proper hand washing. They acted angry at me, possibly personalizing or internalizing the complaint as a critism to their character (it was not), evading my concerns for the public. This was alarming since Chipotle has a history of a major outbreak and they gave away millions to insill public trust again. So to see this attitude and approach from leadership is bizarre. IMO, safey is a culture.. if the staff don't rep it... that's telling. Leadership sets the tone.
I went to Which Wich's manager and imformed them that I've been a professional in that biz and how they are doing it is wrong. He got defensive and started asking invasive personal questions about me, as if he wanted to be able to track me down. He said they took the soap out because guests steal them, and the permanent ones are broken. I said that he will have to endure theft or solve it to follow safety standards.
He confirmed those bathrooms were used for staff. I said he's endangering his staff and customers of three restaurants there. He said he would fix it, but was still dismissive. This was a while ago, but now that we have 4 viruses rampant, I thought it important for the public to know their mentality. That's the leadership's thinking. Their values. Their training. I got the impression he even knew the standard and was choosing against it to save his hasstle. I think HHS is number one when serving food. If you can't follow it, then you don't deserve to serve food. It THE prerequisite. Poor taste or service is your prerogative, but...
Read moreI love Chipotle, and I'm a little biased since I worked for them as my first job in High School. H o w e v e r, this location is simply just "okay". I eat here often as it's an easy lunch or dinner (plus this is the only one in the mountains), but it seems like something is wrong with the Team Members and Leadership behind the scenes.
• The food quality AND quantity never seems to be consistent. For example, every time I go, I either get barely any food in my order or they add way too much of one item. I often find myself still very hungry after eating from here, which is strange because I normally can't even finish what I ordered when I get food from other Chipotle locations. Once a tortilla ripped while they were rolling my burrito, and they didn't even bother to offer to double wrap it. Which again was strange, because when I was employed with them we ALWAYS offered to double wrap. Their rice is a hit or miss. Sometimes it'll come out crunchy and way too salty.
• I've had many orders get messed up. Often times when I tell the Team Member(s) that they did something wrong, (which is really no big deal, it happens) they tend to have an annoyed and angry attitude about fixing it. For example, during one visit, my boyfriend told a Team Member that he did not want corn, he wanted the red/hot salsa. So instead of making a new burrito for him, they picked off the corn piece by piece. Very strange, because while I was employed with them they were very clear to me about throwing away a messed up order and remaking it for the customer, partially because of possible allergies. Another visit, they put chicken on my burrito when I asked for steak, and the girl behind the counter had an obvious fit about remaking it. I often find other bits of food in my orders - that didn't include them - while I'm eating. I'm very texture sensitive, so finding even just a couple pieces of lettuce, onion, or corn when I didn't order it can ruin my whole meal.
• They have had unsafe COVID practices for a long time now. Masks at this location are practically non-existent. The Team Members do wear them, but RARELY have I seen them wear it over their nose. What is the point of wearing a mask if you're not going to wear it properly? Might as well not even wear one. I also have never seen a single person wash their hands or use sanitizer here.
I think this Chipotle has A LOT of work to do. It seems to me that Leadership needs help, desperately. I'm honestly baffled they are doing so badly. I used to think they were just having a couple rough days, but these issues come up every time we order. As a food and customer service worker, maybe new Leadership would help fix the Team Member's attitudes and...
Read moreOh where to start...How about with the fact that I am in no way connected to Chiptole. This is my personal opinion about how I see the staff treated on a day to day basis and my feelings about. Mine and mine alone. guests going in to the location. I frequent this location very often, almost every night. All to often I see guest treating staff terribly. Both behind me and in front of me in line. With or without a packed house, never fails to leave me in awe. As a retail employee I understand how that can be hard on a person, then to have it happen dozens of times a day. It's sad. People who can't respect honest hard working individuals shouldn't even leave the house. At this point I will address the comment made about the youth of the staff. They are young, yes, but at least they are out there earning a living instead of a life of crime. It's just as easy to break into a car and steal money. I know that the treatment of people isn't focused to just one economical class but many. Lower, Middle, and Upper class. Learn some respect or don't even both going out in public, the way you treat people just makes me want to punch you. In the face. Now on to the matter of allergies and special treatment. If you are that worried about allergies and crap I wish you had been born years after now. Again don't leave the house. There is always a chance of exposure. Being a regular at this location I am aware that the has members they themselves have allergies and some to ingredients used at Chipotle. STOP being to selfish and center minded. Not only does the world not revolve around you but you are also not the only one with problems. Get over it, get a life. Now to the issue of the staff attitude. These people do their best at keeping it together and not blowing up at guests. They do sometimes take it out on each other. These people work hard to maintain their composure. So please keep in mind when you make the god awful decision to go out of the house, that there are people working their asses off on a day to day basis to keep a roof over their head and food on the table despite the inflation that you've caused by over indulging unnecessarily.
To the Staff at Chipotle and All Others:
Thank you for working so hard despite your hard ships. Know one can truly know what you go through on a day to day basis, but you all still get up in the morning and go in to do it all again. Granted you aren't soldiers, but still I thank you for putting up with us customers.
To those of you who are soldiers:
Thank you, you risked much to defend your country and family and now work everyday to get by. It's not fair in my eyes. So thank you for all that you have...
