Nestled in the heart of Sioux Falls, Oshima Sushi offers a delightful escape into the world of Japanese cuisine. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by a warm ambiance that perfectly complements the culinary experience that awaits you. The restaurant's decor exudes a blend of modern elegance and traditional Japanese influences, making it an inviting spot for both sushi aficionados and those new to the world of sushi.

One of the standout features of Oshima Sushi is their impressive menu, filled with an array of sushi rolls that cater to diverse palates. However, two rolls that have garnered a dedicated following and are truly worth raving about are the Caterpillar Roll and the Crazy Monkey Roll.

Caterpillar Roll: A Delightful Presentation

The Caterpillar Roll is a visual feast for the eyes. Artfully crafted, this roll features fresh eel and cucumber at its core, topped with thinly sliced avocado that resembles the body of a caterpillar. The presentation is so stunning that it feels almost too beautiful to eat—almost! The flavors, however, are what truly steal the show. The combination of the rich, buttery avocado with the sweet eel creates a harmonious balance that leaves you craving more. Each bite is a delightful journey of texture and flavor, making it a must-try for anyone visiting Oshima Sushi.

Crazy Monkey Roll: A Flavor Explosion

If you’re looking for something with a bit more kick, the Crazy Monkey Roll is the way to go. This roll is a bold fusion of flavors, featuring tempura shrimp, spicy tuna, and a drizzle of tangy eel sauce that tantalizes the taste buds. The crunch of the tempura paired with the creamy texture of the spicy tuna creates an explosion of flavors in your mouth. It’s a roll that embodies the adventurous spirit of sushi and is perfect for those who enjoy a little heat in their meal.

The staff at Oshima Sushi are as welcoming as they are knowledgeable. They are always ready to provide recommendations based on your preferences, ensuring that your dining experience is nothing short of exceptional. The restaurant’s atmosphere is lively yet relaxed, making it an ideal spot for a casual dinner with friends, a romantic date, or even a family outing.

Oshima Sushi has quickly become a beloved staple in Sioux Falls, and it's easy to see why. With its creative menu, particularly the Caterpillar and Crazy Monkey rolls, fantastic service, and inviting atmosphere, it’s a dining experience that you won’t want to miss. Whether you're a sushi expert or just starting your culinary journey, Oshima Sushi has something to offer everyone. So, gather your friends and family, and head over to Oshima Sushi for a meal that promises to be both delicious...

Japanese food served by Chinese staff is always a little odd. No reason it can't work. Not bad, but not quite authentic, a little like Mexican food served by Indians. This is very normal in the Midwestern US, but always leaves me feeling like I should wait to order sushi when I'm actually IN Japan.

Rolls are ok, but very average. California roll was one of the smaller I've ever encountered. Ordered three rolls, and got a pinch of wasabi the size of a pinkie nail. Asked for more, and got a small lump the size of a peach seed from reluctant staff. Seaweed salad tasted like typical, prepackaged, Asian market mix. Completely forgettable, BUT, for South Dakota, I suppose this is expected. I have never been here before, but I don't believe this to be the foodie capital of flyover country. Who knows?

Decor is up to snuff, but I also found it odd that the somewhat loud music playing was Christmas music, broadcast by a religious radio station. It didn't ruin anything for me, but certainly didn't create the ambiance I expected. A little like having garlic naan and listening to K-pop on the radio.

Ultimately, I only came for dinner because many other reviewers rave about the place. If you have never left Sioux Falls, you'll be favorably impressed with eating here. If you have ever traveled anywhere that serves decent Japanese cuisine, you'll be...

I’ve been ordering food for over 10 years and never had an issue…the one day I do (today) the restaurant did not handle the situation well at all. I will literally never go to this restaurant. I placed a to go order. It was completely COLD 🥶, all three items (Baked Lobster Roll, Green Dragon Roll and the Sexy Roll). I arrived within 15 minutes of my order, so that was not the issue. I’ve ordered the same items for years and know what to expect. I attempted to bring this to their attention by making several phone calls which all went unanswered. When I finally got on the phone, I got a kid who knew nothing about customer service who proceeded to argue with me and fixate on the fact that he didn’t see my prior calls. He promised me his supervisor would call me between 5:30pm-6pm. I never received a call back and so I decided to reach out at 6:11pm. I asked for the supervisor and she said she was on the phone. She argued with me and told me my food was not cold and that I may have waited too long to pick up my order despite my telling her I got my order right away…like why did I even leave a tip!!!! There are plenty of sushi options in Sioux Falls, for example Tokyo (several locations, west side being best off Louis & 57th), Sushi Masa Downtown and Fuji!...

Okay so I got majorly screwed over on the Monday-Thursday roll special today on a take out order. There was no attempts to make it right after I have spent easily $200 there in the last month. After the order was placed online I was then instructed that they do not apply the buy one get one roll special to online orders which is not stated anywhere on the website or on the Facebook page. I called and requested to speak to a managet. None were available. I placed the order online 5:50pm to be ready at 6:15pm. It wasn't ready when arrived. Again, no attempts to correct this were made. This will be the last time I go here. The food is amazing but this situation isnt acceptable. (I work in the service industry.) Soooo good ❤❤❤ I needed this place in my life. Spicy Tuna Tempura roll pictured below. Other fave is the Rock and Roll. Ugh too many good cooked and sashimi options, also traditional sushi too. ❤❤❤🍣
