The Hello Hi — Restaurant in Sioux Falls Township

Something I never knew I needed in my life: a tiki bar in South Dakota. Something I now definitely know and understand that I need in my life: Hello Hi.

Everything about Hello Hi hit the mark for me. They have a great, creative drink menu, featuring a range of cocktails, beer, and wine to non-alcoholic beverages, including locally made kombucha (which is delicious, by the way) - all at very fair prices. The pizza - from Pizza Cheeks - is also incredible and the perfect pairing for any drink.

The atmosphere is also above and beyond cool. It has a dark tiki bar vibe, featuring ET, projected old movies, and more than one mermaid. This is definitely a place to take a date or a group of friends. It is way different from anything else available in the area, which is so exciting.

The staff were also all very helpful, friendly, and attentive. They made the experience extra special for us!

Used to love this place. We came one night and a bartender, who we have never met, came to us and threatened us to leave now or he would get violent. We didn't even order a drink, on a few slices of pizza. We were asked to leave, with no explanation. We said that's fine, but could we finish our pizza. The server said yes, but we would have to do it outside on their patio or out back. We went out front to finish our pizza, and a different bartender came out and started threatening us with violence if we didn't leave that second. We tried to figure out what was happening but he started raising his voice and said he would beat us if we didn't leave now. Being in the service industry I am beyond appalled. I would understand if we were being drunk and obnoxious, but we didn't even order a drink.

If this is the way they treat people, I wouldn't be surprised if they were bankrupt...

As a west coaster, I thought we had the lock on cool tiki bars. I was pretty wrong. Hello Hi takes tiki up about 3 notches. I mean, the legit standards done very well, home versions of standards, some great concoctions of their own, the BEST design for your own atmosphere wants too. Booth? They have that. Cool bar? Yep. Hightop to people watch from? Got it. Corner stage area? Sure. Separate intimate room with cool tiki decor? That too.

So, you can have cool tiki place (seen a few of them), you can have an on point cocktail game (tasted a few of them), and you might have good service (experienced that too). But all three in one place? Rare. All three as perfect as you can get? Super rare. I would have said only in CA, but, Sioux Falls has it in The Hello Hi. 100%, the...
