So I ordered a dozen Glazed Croissants (10 were filled with various flavors), Chocolate Cream Horn, and a Cheesecake slice.
I didnât have any issues with Cream Horn or the Cheesecake (was very delicious) and the shop was nice and clean. So letâs talk about the the crown jewel that this place is known for, the âCroissantsâ. First, they are not. Croissant are more than just a shape. Now I can tell that there were some kind of folding because I can barely see layers on top under the glaze, but thatâs where it stops. The inside is a doughnut. [EDITED - upon eating another one the next morning, from what I have left over, I discovered that the croissants were fried, instead of traditionally baked. This is why I saw layers on top, but inside it had the consistency of a doughnut.] There were no flaky-buttery-air-pockets that croissants are known for. Donât get me wrong they were still delicious, but croissants they were not.
Now I am stuck on whether I should give it a 3 star or a 4 star rating, while âflavor is kingâ proper labeling is also important. I donât know if this was a honest mistake that was never corrected due to its popularity or if itâs a failure to actually know how a croissant is made? Either way they are great doughnuts with a croissant labeling and prices. 3 stars because you donât actually get what you drove there to begin with. In some ways itâs a disappointment, but not a bad disappointment. Itâs like going somewhere asking for a nice steak, but instead you got a really good chicken and youâre at peace with...
Read moreThe cream filled croissants are the GREATEST. Best in history!! The fruit filled, not so much. Fruit filling kind of tasteless and corn syrupy. Red velvet cake - very dry and spongy, cream cheese frosting a bit sweet. Eclairs didn't look fresh or large enough to try. They were actually kind of sweaty sitting in the case, only about 1 1/4" in diameter (typically a good eclair is just a little fatter - this was a cross between a minineclair and a regular eclair). Long John's - EXCELLENT Bavarian creme filling- the yeast donut part, dry. Kind of like day old Dunkin Donuts. Creme filled cookies - excellent cookie AND excellent filling, but together the cookies are too hard for the soft filling. It all squeezes out in the first bite. Cheesecake - only tried the white chocolate raspberry, usually our favorite. We've tried quite a few in our lives!! Not much raspberry at all, cheesecake was "OK", but not the cheesiest of cheesecakes, more of a white chocolate dessert. Overall they win on presentation and the creme filled croissants. I'll be back many times. Hopefully this will be taken constructively as that is the intent of the...
Read moreToday I politely asked the young person that was waiting on me to change her gloves before making my order because she had her gloves on at the register. She fixed my order(in the back where I canât see her) and came back with the same jelly smeared gloves that she had on prior to making my order. I politely asked her did she remember that I had asked her to change her gloves and she stated âI didâ When I presented to her that I knew that she didnât because she had the same jelly stains on her gloves she proceeded to tell me that she didnât change them because they are not suppose to change them. I requested to speak to the manager and waited for the owner âFredâ who states they have policies to follow and she was suppose to change her gloves. I was refunded my money but will not be returning. Iâve been on several occasions and they have on gloves with their phones in their hands or drinking something with gloves on and then go and make someoneâs order. After my talk with the owner and his body language I donât think anything...
