I am very disappointed. I Googled best Mexican food in Smithfield and San Marcos came up #1. We were seated promptly. Chips and salsa arrived. Kind of rudely dumped on the table. Most places provide 2 bowls of salsa. We got one and she was gone before I could even open my mouth to request another. I normally would not review that but as we were nearing the end of our meal my date gave me a Birthday card and I took the time to read it at that moment. As I was looking at the card 3 servers cleared our table. 3. Half a basket of chips left, haft a bowl of Pico degalo and my approximately 4 bites of the chicken from my dinner. Me and my date just looked at each and asked "What just happened?" I have never had my table cleared off like that, not to mention the food we were still enjoying. And we weren't given any napkins. I had to get up and go find some.I don't know what's going on here but they won't see me back in there. I'm tempted to venture an opinion but I'll keep my personal observation to myself and stick with the facts. And as with many other places cash is preferred and cards are penalized a...

We thought it would be a great place to try..wrong. They had no tp or paper towels in ladies room..When we went to table they had cleaned it but left the seats soaked from wiping them off and instead of wiping them off, they handed us napkins and said sorry and walked away. Then when we ordered our drinks they had that wrong too. It took 2 more times telling waiter he still hadn't brought out our drinks..yet hes going around filling up his other tables and has to walk right past us. My daughter ordered her fajitas a certain way, it was wrong. So, she returned them. They offered to fix it, but by now, we had all lost our appetite. So the rest of us packed to go boxes and home we went. When I asked for a togo dr. pepper, he brought me a diet coke. I just left(I think if our waiter had written the orders down as he was taking them, he might have gotten it right, but he was so distracted. On what? Who knows. It was a big disappointment..I will stick to my regular mexican rest. down the road..I suggest you go...

I went the restaurant for the first time on Saturday, June 7 and asked the waitress what chicken tacos were good. She recommended Tacos De Pollo Asado. I was expecting tender grilled chicken, seasoned/flavored, and already put together. The meal was priced over $15.00. When the meal was delivered I was shocked and highly disappointed. The tacos were delivered on dry old tortilla's and the chicken breast taste like two or three day old chicken. The toppings for the tacos were served in a plastic cup with a lid. Meaning there was nothing on the taco but dry tortilla and dry chicken.

I love Mexican food and know good food when I taste it. But this was the worst Mexican food I have ever had in my life. I'm accustomed to good Mexican food from Micasitas and other restaurants where the tacos are served fresh, hot, and flavors melt in your mouth. San Marcos did not meet any expectation of good service and good food. I'm leaving this review because management needs to be aware of how their food is being...

This is a nice Mexican restaurant. We stopped while on a road trip and were pleasantly surprised by the quality and diverse menu. The guacamole was perfectly seasoned with a perfect proportion of lime and cilantro. The Texas margarita on the rocks was top notch. The Elotes Placero was a nice way to experience Mexican Street corn. The corn cobs were rubbed with mayonnaise, queso fresco and chili powder. Two other styles were available. We also had one barbecue but in future would choose all 3 traditional. I ordered the A.C.C. (arroz con camerones) in a half portion (6 shrimp) which was the perfect sized portion. My husband chose the Casuelon, which was a mixto of grilled chicken, steak and chorizo over grilled onions. My son had the mixed fajitas which were a very generous portion of steak, chicken and shrimp. The flan proved to be the perfect finish to a great meal. The fried ice cream tasted as good as it was pretty in preparation. Definitely recommend!

Was in the area for 1 night and this place was recommended to us from the staff at the hotel. It was an easy walk to get there. We were seated right away without having to wait. We have been to many Mexican restaurants and I always order the same thing. Carnitas. It is a hit and miss and this meal was definitely a miss. The meat was so overcooked and tough it could not be chewed. And what I was able to get out of it had a lot of fat and gristle in it. Needed to have more flavor and spices added to make it tastier. But the presentation of the meal was fabulous as was the Sangria. Sangria was a little light on the alcohol though but not too sweet which is they way I like my Sangria's. Hubby's Enchilada's lacked flavor as was reported to me. Again, the presentation was spot on. Service was excellent as well as friendly and helpful. Chips and Salsa came right away. The Salsa was definitely homemade and was full of spices and flavor.

Weve officially visited every Mexican Restaurant now in the Smithfield Selma Garner areas and this one San Marcos has impressed us a lot. Was a local google guide on another Google account so added a ton of photos knowing I'd be reviewing this Restaurant. Not all Mexican food is hot and spicy, much of it is really great without the spice, like Texas Fajitas, Bean Chicken Beef Anchillottas and others. Look, if you're going out to Mexican and haven't been here yet, it has dim lighting, lots of cultural art, colored textured and toned walls. It's worth a visit. It became our new favorite Mexican Diner and may become yours too!
