I am writing to express my deep disappointment not only with the macaroons I purchased from Small Cakes in Smithfield but also with the response I received from the owner when I addressed my concern. When I bought the macaroon, I was looking forward to enjoying a quality treat from your bakery in celebration of my Mom’s birthday, given the positive reputation you have. However, the macaroon was rock-hard to the point that it chipped my mother’s tooth on the first bite. This was not just an unpleasant experience—it was actually damaging. My daughters had also taken bites and equally expressed how it was hard and sticky, like a rock candy/caramel. When I reached out to you to discuss the issue, I was met with a combative and dismissive response. Instead of offering an apology or any constructive solution, your tone was defensive, and my legitimate concern was ignored. This kind of customer service is unacceptable, especially when a product has caused physical harm. I had expected much better from a bakery that I had trusted. I will not be returning, and I would strongly advise others to carefully consider this when choosing where to buy baked goods. I hope you take this feedback seriously and reassess how both the quality of your products and your customer interactions can be improved...

These cupcakes are MOIST, tender, and tasty! The cakes are not overly sweetened. And the icing is sweet and buttery rich in flavor. Depending on the flavor, each cupcake is bursting with flavor. These are carefully crafted cupcakes and large in size. My mouth was watering as I ate them. My husband and kids absolutely loved them.

If you are in the area, I highly recommend that you visit this bakery. It is very clean inside and the staff is very nice.

My husband and I purchased a box of 8 macaroons and every single one of them was harder than a rock - resulting in a chipped tooth and an almost 500 dollar dental bill to have a repair. The store manager assured that they would make the situation right - but when we asked him to help cover the cost of the repair he only said he could offer us a 22$ refund on the macaroons (which wasn’t even a full refund because we also purchased a cupcake). Twenty two dollars in a refund and being completely dismissive to the situation with no regard for the damage caused does not even come close to making the situation right. It is a managers duty to make sure their products they sell are guaranteed and to compensate when they fall short of that promise. We will never return to this smallcakes location and we will never warn people we know of...
